Dislikes
- Proffesors are pretty much useless and very rude.
- Although campus is beautiful it is filled with rabid dogs which are an annoyance
Course Curriculum Overview
In todays market if u wish to get a computer science like pay without majoring in computer science, electronics is the branch for you. Considering the recent boom of semiconductor industries around the world, the demand for ece engineers are more. Its a safe branch. The course curriculum definitely needs a huge revamp teaching things from the 1980s is ungodly. with the recent surgence of A.I i think the course needs a huge remodelling. If u need to sit for placements u'll need to have a cgpa of 7.5 minimum and if u wish to sit in IT placements (CS placements) u'll need to have cgpa of 8+ which is very difficult to maintain in ECE branch. If u want to just chill in college ECE is not ur branch. You'll end up with a lot of backlogs by the end of your 4 year tenure
Internships Opportunities
Amazon, Adobe, Oracle etc.. are some of the comapnies that offer internships. u have to do a mandatory internship. Either a 6 month or a 2month intership upto you. Stipend will vary from branch to branch( i repeat branch to branch) because in the same company a cs intern would get 20000 but a mech intern would only get 12000 or 10000.
Placement Experience
From what I heard Companies come scouting for employees from 3rd year 1st semester which would be the 5th semester. IT Companies:- Apple, Adobe, Google, Microsoft, Oracle, Salesforce, Samsung etc... Automobile Companies:- Bajaj, Hero, Tata, Maruti etc.. Other Companies:- Deshaw, JP Morgan, L&T, Qualcomm, Goldmann Sachs Highest package was 64lpa from ECE branch and average package was around 11.06 lakhs Percentage of students vary from branch to branch but in 2023 it was 81.51% I plan on doing masters abroad after this
Fees and Financial Aid
Yearly I paid 1.25 lakh odd semeseter+ even semester. This is tuition fee alone For college extras like lab fees sports fees development fees etc etc... odd semester i paid 38165 and even semester i paid around 19000 rupees This is the general quota (income 5lpa and above families)
Campus Life
Cultural fest:- Blitzschlag, A 3 day event with pronites every night and activities during day Technical Fest:- Sphinx, Also a 3 day event with prnites ever night and tech competions during day Dance clubs:- E=mc2 and LevelX tight competion between them Sports:- THeres a football ground, cricket ground, tennis court badminton court basketball court, kabaddi ground, volleyball court etc. 5g labs and pc's are equipped with high speed internets and latest softwares(MS office, Autocad, Pycharm etcc..) One canteen, one shopping centre, one night canteen
Hostel Facilities
New hostels are being built. I am currently staying in the latest hostel Aravalli. There are 2 hostels for girls and 12 hostels for boys out of which 1 is for Phd scholars. Registration process happens every year during course registration. My hostel mess is very bad. it is the worst one compared to other hostel so food is a big issue.
Admission
Obviously you need to clear jee with a minimum of 98 percentile to get an ece or cs seat. I had applied to NITR in Electronics and Instrumentation but dropped it due to the location of the college . From what i know the college is located 120km from the nearest airport and very secluded from city. I had ECE seats in NITC and NITW but avoided both of them because my home state was Kerala and I wanted to explore North India more. I was torn between CS in VNIT and ECE in MNIT but ended up choosing ECE because of the decline in CS jobs due to A.I insurgence. U'll need to clear JEE MAINS, as well as 12th and 10th board exams of your respective schools.Ensure that u have 75% in boards or else no admission in NITs or IITs for that matter. I did not clear JEE ADVANCE so i cannot make any comments abou that
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is adequate i would say. Speaking for my branch Electronics and Communication most proffessors are very strict and follow the old methods. The branch itself is very hard and I would say that proffessor are lacking for the course content. There are a few exceptions like Deepak Bharati Sir from ECE department. He is very proper, comes to classes teaches well solves doubts and leaves. He takes attendance and makes it mandatory for students to keep a minumun for 75 percent attendance. Also Mukesh Jain Sir from Chemical Engineering department. he ensures that not a single student fails his subject and teaches nice also. In first year ull have around 12 subjects both sem1 and sem2 with 8 common subjects(common for all branches) and 1 or 2 core subjects depending upon ur branch. There are 2 exams in 1 semester one midsemster and one endsemester exam, along with lab exams in midsem and endsem. If u study very well exams are a piece of cake. For me i studied a week before the exam and managed to get a decent semester gpa with no backlogs although i did struggle studying for one of my core subjects(CIrucits and Networks). Course curicculum is from the 1980s so ull get the picture of how relevant it is
Night Life
Gyms open at 6 same for sports complexes and other facilities. After 10pm students are restricted to go outside campus. Entry anytime Delivery allowed to hostel till 10p,m after 10pm ull have to go to main gate to collect. Computer Centre is open 24/7 u can go study there anytime library closes at 11 or 10 For first years first month students have a restriction of going outside hostel after 10pm after that entry inside hostel anytime. Within college famous hangout places would be PMC the shopping centre and VLTC where classes happen also Canteen and in the night for boys Night Canteen. Girls are restricted to go outside campus after 10pm for all 4years Locality is safe to roam around night except near Aurobindo hostel where leapord may or may not come on the roads which is very rare every year leaporf sightings are announced twice or thrice at maximum
