Remarks :

This college is full of Opportunities which is challenging students to grab it through their hard work.

Entrance Preview :

I took JEE for entrance in 2008. I scored 210 and got AIR 4595. Initially I didn't have idea what I wanted to do science or engineering. But I got int. MSc. in Physics at IIT Kgp. I didn't go for another options (NITs, BIT) where I could have got engineering branches because I wanted to get admitted in best colleges in country. There was no interview.

Course Curriculum Overview :

In first year we had same courses for all the branches which was to make our base strong in general science and technology. After second year we had core courses which even become advanced courses in final year.

Internships Opportunities :

I did my internship at research institute NCRA, Pune. They use to give 7000 pm with accommodation. Apart from this I have internship in university at Israel. Where I got $ 1000 pm.

Placement Experience :

Placement in college quite well.In my branch out 20 , 10 people were placed, 7 went for higher studies and 2 were repeating few courses. In my time companies which cameFacebook(70L), Google, Amazon(10-15L), ITC(14L), Goldmann Sachs(15-20L), Flipkart(10-15L),Excel(8-15L), Samsung(10L), Qualcomm(10L), Future First(5-15L), Capital one(10L), HSBC, Cognizant(8-12L),Accenture(8-10L), Coal India(5-8L),PWC(5-10L), The Advisoy Board Company(11L)

College Events :

In our college there are inter-hall(inter-hostel) technology, sports and social&cultural events. 1. Technology:Tech Quiz Biz Quiz Case Study Ad-design Coding Hardware design Mahs Olympiyard Product Design Chemical Innovation 2. Sports events

Fee Structure And Facilities :

While joining we had to submit caution money of 6000 INR with first semester fees.Fee structure was 44000 INR per semester which includes all type of tuition, hostel, mess and others fees, which is quite feasible.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

MCM for the students whose parents have salary less than 4 Lacs.Other Scholarships are JNCERS, KVPYand INSPIRE (for science branches) Loan are available easily through SBI( I took SBI Loan) and PNB.

Campus Life :

Campus life is just awesome. You have a lot fun with friends discussing about interesting topics and playing with them. Apart from academics institute has a huge number of activities which energies you during time of your tiredness. I have earlier mentioned all the activities we had. There are so many options available so that you can go in whatever activities you want to do.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel are quite old except few new ones but they have all the facilities like washing machines, heaters, wifi and playing grounds. Food is quite good as menu is decided in students meeting themselves.

Alumni/Alumna :

Alumni network is too strong. Campus organises Almuni meet in which alumni meet with students ans share their nostalgia. During this time students interact with them and get idea for there career. Alumni provides fund to colleges which is used in welfare of students like abroad internship, summer schools etc.

Exam Structure :

Intensity of Exams and labs decrease with increasing year of study. Still in first few years being too busy with our labs , classes and exam we were able to find time for relaxing and do a lot of extra academics activities.

Faculty :

Only 5-6 professors are really good among 30. So only few courses are taught very well. Standard of any course taught by these 5-6 faculties was at the peak but others courses were miserable. Courses I which I liked: Statistical Mechanics, General Relativ

Course Curriculum Overview:

I had chosen this course as I want to study and deeply learn all the concepts of zoology in a post-graduation level. I also aimed that after my post-graduation, my participation in undergoing various training programmes, jobs, internship opportunities, and ventures would open for me. There were six faculty members and one lab attendant in my department. Out of which, two were associate professors and four were assistant professors. The faculty:student ratio was 11:3. The qualification of the faculty members was that four of them had completed their BSc, MSc, BEd, and PhD degree in their subjects. Two of them had completed their BSc, MSc, and BEd degree. All the professors had taken revision classes after completing each chapter/module. Surprise tests were also conducted before the final semester examinations. All the odd semester exams (1st and 3rd) and even semester exams (2nd and 4th) were held timely across the year. It was difficult to pass as the syllabus was lengthy and hard.

Course Curriculum Overview:

After completing and getting good marks in graduation my next step is to pass MSc with first-class and prepare myself for the NET SET exam so that I can either do a Ph.D. or become a lecturer. We had 4 faculty and almost 42 students in our department. So the student-faculty ratio is 10 students per one professor. But our professors are very good and understanding. They are very interactive in online/offline classes. They have empathy and patience to understand our topic very deeply. They also do regular practical classes. Our professors have done Ph.D. in their field. We had 4 semesters. Every semester we had 5-6 papers and practical exams and internal assessment tests and assignments. Anyone who studies regularly can pass these exams.

Placement Experience:

They can enroll in the placement cell which helps with placements, Some departments get quite good placements from reputed companies. After getting the degree, I plan on sitting for the JAM MSc entrance exams. Also Really good for other departments like BCom and economics but you usually don't look for placement after graduation in the arts stream. You have to go for masters. So if you're a commerce or a science student and you're looking for a college with good placement after graduation, St Xavier's College is one of the best colleges in the country and in Kolkata the best.
