- the website that college uses is totally outdated or atleast during our time it was out dated.
Course Curriculum Overview
Honestly speaking its a good degree to give you validation across the industries but out of what is taught barely 20% comes to application when it is working in the industry it is just for the sake of it. the university syllabus’s are totally outdated going back to teaching tech from 2005. The world of advertising keeps on updating. there is no performance marketing included as it is mostly the major part of advertising. There is no creative thinking taught. I personally feel that the course and the syllabuses need to be updated every based on the case studies from the advertising world. Also lot of on field activities are to be conducted so one can get an overall idea of the process.
Fees and Financial Aid
First Year - 23000 Second Year - 21000 Third Year - 18000 This includes all fees i.e. Tutuion, Registeration, Development and etc. College IVs were charged differently. Students under ST & OBC has subsidy and had to pay 5000 per year
Campus Life
Wilson has many festivals with Ole being the main college fest and other departmental fests like Polaris -BMM, Adore -BMS, Backslash - BSc IT, etc. I personally being the VP for Polaris learend a lot during the making of that fest the entire pre process. and etc. Personsally Never been to the library there so cant really say something. The tech was decent not so hi tech and advanced. Sports were a major part of wilsons, including football, boxing, cricket, etc. as wilsons has its own gym khana all activities take place there. A lot of students are part of the sports in Wilsons with a ligh level of some players of the State team. wilsons do have many clubs too that have a lot of activities going on and a lot of csr activities. There is a fest named Hope that is part of this clubs.
Admission
Hosently Speaking I had applied to St. Xaviers, Fort; St. Andrews, Bandra; and Wilson College. This college was the first one I got into and sho I got my admissions here. I was not Selected in St. Xaviers, Fort; Based on their entrance exam and the Percentages from class 12. Wilson has its admission process based on the Markings of 12th grade.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is 1 Faculty teaches 120 students approx for the first two years. In the third year the course is split into Advertising and Journalism so the Student Teacher Ratio is maintained. The faculty that I would Personally Prefer is Tejasvi Khatri, Hanif Lakdawala and I cant Personally recollect anyone else. Would not name them but there are times when faculty is well versed with old school technical knowledege where i will prefer to have someone who is in the industry and can teach students the updated softwares. We had 2 semesters and an internal for each sem that had an presentation or assignment. For me personally the exams were a peace of cake as I was pretty well-versed with the technical knowledge as I used to freelance to make quick pocket money.
Night Life
As based in Chowparry and Town side of Mumbai there is a lot of Happening things around the Place that you can enjoy on. Wilson has their own hostel for students named as Machican Hostel. There are a lot of PGs too around Wilson. Hangout places in the college include, Canteen, College Stage, College Corridors, etc. Outdoor as mentioned previously is a lot happening and has plenty of destinations from chawpatty beach to hanging gardens to marine drive, etc and many more hangout places for foof and beverages. etc.
