My College Memoir

Remarks :

I would say that college taught me more about respecting diversity other than learing academics. The college is growing gradually in terms of everything be it infra or academics or placements or anything. People are now recognising what is the potential of this place.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course structure that I studied covered the topics ranging from fundamentals to the advanced application part but it was not at par when it came to the industrial needs so now the college has made significant ammendments in the curriculum fruits of which are enjoyed by the upcoming batches. Days were a bit hectic with us having an approximately hour lecture for theory blended with the practical implementation of key subjects too.

Placement Experience :

The placements scenario has drastically improved in the last 2-3 years. As far as the non core branches are concerned we have 100% placements and for the non core branches also we have improved a lot. Many premier companies like Microsoft offered a package of 43.4 lakhs to our students this year. Companies like DE Shaw offered internship to pre final year students offering 1 lakh stipend per month. I'm also placed in one of the reputed international firm offering a handsome package.

College Events :

College organises E-Summit as the management fest with renowned speakers such as former TATA CTO Mr Gopichand Katragada renowned speaker Daniel RamaMurthy and many others. The technical fest of the college is also known as the Aavrtan under the aegis of which Vigyan,Central India's largest science exhibition is launched. Also the spring semester witnesses Eclectika as the Cultural fest which has witnessed renowned personalities like Sachin Jigar, Salim and Suleiman Merchant and many others.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

For General and OBC category student having family income>5 lakhs annual fees 1.20 lakhs For General and OBC category student having family income >1 lakhs and <5 lakhs annual fees 40,000 For students having family income < 1 lakhs annual fees 0 For SC & ST students annual fees 0

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Though I haven't availed any loan or scholarship facilities but leading banks provide loan facilities to the students. Also many scholarship are available to the backward reserved students. The scholarship are awarded on the names of former professor Mr KK Sugandhi and many other people of the college but they are mostly for the SC ST students.

Campus Life :

Gender ratio vary from branch to branch with mining and mechanical having a ratio of 1 or 2 girl to 90 boys and electronics having a ratio of 35 girls to 55 boys. A welcome party is given to rhe students in their first year and farewell is given by the college in final years. Also there are many other informal parties. The college organises workshops either paid or unpaid on recent trends in industry or any other skill. The students diversity is a must see with students ranging from every part of the country having different caste creed religion and economic status.

Hostel Facilities :

There are in total of 5 hostels for boys and 2 for girls. The newly constructed hostel for boys has a capacity of 840 students and provides the maximum accomodation with every room having 3 beds. The remaining boys hostels provide accomodation to 100 people each with every room having 2 beds. The girls hostel provides accomodation to 200 and 450 girls each with 4 beds and 2 beds room respectively. The rooms are spacious. The students get hostel on the basis of their CGPA. The remaining students have to live in PGs outside. PGs are not that expensive a person can easily manage his food, living and other chores in 4000 to 5000 rs per month

Alumni/Alumna :

The college seniors were really helpful. There is often a misconception that there is a lot of ragging in engineering colleges but such was not the case here. Seniors helped and taught us the art of organising events to even preparing us with company interviews. Alumni network is also strong with notable people like Mr Abidali Neemuchwala, CEO of Wipro Mr Sudheer Vasudevan former director of ONGC and many others.

Admission :

So as far as the admissions are concerned admission in not only my college but the other NITs also is done on the basis of rank obtained after writing JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) Mains exam. Based on the ranks we have a counselling session where we are supposed to make a choice list or preference list. Based on our choices, rank and college cutoff ranks college is awarded. I had an inclination towards Computer Science from the very start so I opted it.

Faculty :

The college since was established way back in 1950s have a legacy of top class education. The faculties of most of the departments are highly senior with expertise in their respective areas. Some of the faculties despite of their busy schedule are supportive enough.

Students are allowed to sit on placements from the 7th sem (for B.Tech) and for internships(5th sem), before entering to 8th sem (almost all students get a job). For circuital branches like CS, IT, ECE, EE Avg package is around 15lpa, for reminding core companies the Avg package is around 8-9lpa. Some renowned companies visits are Oracle, PhonePE, Microsoft, Google, Optum, PocketFM, Tekion, WD, UKG, NVIDIA, AMD, Kanerika, IBM, Hyperverge, ZS Associates, etc. Almost 95 % of Students get a placement each year. Course Curriculum Overview:

As I am a student of btech in computer Science. And I choose this course because of high demanding of software developer. As I heard from my senior that college provides minor internship. But this is not enough for a student if he or she wants to get a good job. Students are need to be self dependent and learn skills from themselves. Teachers are only for curriculum activities. I think if placement scenario will improve then it will beneficial for the students. Exams happens 2 time (2 sem) a year and in two class test happens in one semester
