Course Curriculum Overview :
The course curriculum here is comprehensive and forward-thinking, strongly emphasising interdisciplinary learning. However, it could benefit from more industry-oriented courses and flexible electives properly divided each semester to enhance its relevance. exams are well spaced and balanced in difficulty testing both theoretical knowledge and practical skills ,though certain subjects are more challenging due to teaching methods with huge syllabus
Internships Opportunities :
It offers robust internship opportunities through IBITF which hosts many projects and the IIC that funds startups and SAC also facilitates connections with alumni aiding in securing internships. While FANG companies re yet to come the existing opportunities provided valuable experience Projects range from AL/ML development to sustainable engineering resulting significant learning and impactful outcomes
Placement Experience :
At IIT Bhilai students are eligible for campus placements from the 7th semester however one can earn PPO through internships. Many growing startups offer placements here. The highest package goes up to 42LPA with an average of up to 17LPA after my degree I plan to pursue a career in SDE or SWE roles and then continue my studies for research in PhD with the experience gained here
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
As an Sc student at IIT Bhilai, I benefit from an academic fee waiver and only need to cover hostel and dini g charges which is around 30k to 50k per semester. Numerous scholarships are available based on income and merit which can cover those additional charges
Campus Life :
My overall experience with campus life here has been vibrant and engaging students here have great bonds with each other irrespective of whether from juniors to PhD. Our annual techno-cultural fest Meraz is best of all however it is yet to bring huge celebrities. The library is well stocked and journals, and classrooms are equipped with modern technology. The campus offers various sports facilities and extracurricular activities, you can visit the Instagram pages of IIT Bhilai to see more
Hostel Facilities :
everyone must stay in a hostel and there is an exception for PhD which offers both double and single occupancy rooms with AC. Interns are also accommodated here. The rooms are well-maintained and comfortable. The mess provides a variety of south and north Indian dishes and while it's not quite like home-cooked food I find it quite good compared to other iits . Registration for accommodation is quite easy there's an online sbi portal to register and pay fee
Admission :
I got admitted here through the JoSAA counselling process which follows jee advanced scores and eligibility the application forms fees and dates are available on JoSAA webpage As an SC student, I availed for reservation benefits which eased my admission. The entrance exam is challenging but fair. A unique aspect was the Student mentorship program where seniors are assigned to help new students wth the registration process ensuing a smooth transition. I have been mentor and mentor coordinator and helped many new batches
Faculty :
The favourable faculty-to-student ratio at IIT Bhilai allows for personalized attention and interactive learning. Professors here hold impressive credentials including PhDs from top institutions and extensive research and industry experience but few aren't as good as in teaching or transferring their knowledge into teaching.however all bring deep knowledge to their subjects enriching learning and experience . they have good connections and are very approachable supportive with good metorship I got three research internships under them
