What Students Say
Likes
- The college has excellent infrastructure and management.
- Teachers are a hit or miss. There’s mostly rookie teachers for the first years but as you select your specialization, you’ll only be dealing with a specific set of teachers. Some of them are extremely experienced and some are okay-okay.
- The college has excellent industry connections. There’s no better place to network as a student in Mumbai. They have people visiting from all over the world and master classes and talks occurring every now and then.
Dislikes
- They’ve increased their intake of students massively. The campus is becoming way too crowded for so many people. They’ve expanded campus into some floors in the hostel which is right across the street.
- Everything in the college is slowly getting more and more expensive. They charge large unnecessary fines for things like not bringing your hall ticket or a new ID card or for exam rechecking.
- Canteen is wayy too expensive for students like us
Course Curriculum Overview
The course is extremely comprehensive and helps to cover real world problems as well. We have a practical learning model. Most of the learning is application based especially in product design. It involves working with materials.
Internships Opportunities
There's a lot of companies coming to hire students for internship. I did an internship over the summer from an outside contact. It was in graphic design and I was paid 12k/month. It was for a total of 2 months in the summer.
Placement Experience
Campus placements are very good and they have people coming from a diverse range of companies. I am a second year student so I don't know about the exact packages. I plan to identify my strengths by 4th year and get a job in that sector.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees for per semester is around 3 Lakhs with small increments per semester. It is a 4 year course so the total fees comes out to be between 24 L to 27 L. The fees for admission registration is 2k-2.5k. There is merit based scholarship based on the entrance test which is online. Some batchmates of mine got the scholarship and they pay 2.5 lakh per semester
Campus Life
We have tons of fests happy every now and then and also a large number of clubs. Social life and extracurriculars is very very happening. We have interesting competitions and events being organised often by the student council and the clubs. ISDI INFERNO is the official fest of the college.
Admission
I considered going to UID Ahmedabad and MIT Pune. I decided to not go to UID because I would have move to Ahmedabad and I didn't get into MIT for unknown reasons. The admission process for ISDI involves giving an entrance exam, submitting portfolio and an interview.
Faculty
Class strength is around 30 so the faculty is easily able to interact with the class so the ratio is good. We have jury system in design college. The exam system is pretty good and easy to pass. Although might be competitive enough
