- Beautifull Campus:-The campus is one of the most scenic in india located beside the brahmputra and surrounded by hills and lakes with a area of 750 acres.
- Acadmic Excellence:- IIT guwahati has a strong acadmic reputation with experienced faculty high class labs and excellent infrastructure.
Dislikes
- Inconsistent Internet :- The room wifi that is provided through institute is inconsistent. The speed can go down anytime.
- Mess Food :- Here the food quality of mess is very poor. There is many variety in food but the quality is poor.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Mechanical engineering covers core areas such as Thermodynamics ,Fluid mechanics,Heat transfer,solid mechnics in which i have highly interest,thats why i choose this course. They are following old carriculum from the past few years now its time that thay should revise the course structure. In 15 to 20 days we have exams and the papers are quite difficult and it also depends on the proffessors.
Internships Opportunities :
Internship opportunities is very good in iit guwahati. It starts after the completion of second year. This year around 60 companies came some are coming.Last year around 250 students got internship in different companies.mostly comapnies comes for sde role. Some core companies also come.
Placement Experience :
The Placement here is very good.The placement rate is around 80% with an average package of 15lpa. After completing the third year students apply for on campus placement. Last year around 200 companies visited and around 1000 offers were made. highest package was around 2cr and average package was 15lpa. 80% students gets placed. My palns after degree is to work in some mnc.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
I paid 265000 yearly including tution and hosterl fees. Tution fees for the students with income more than 500000 is 200000. Tution fees for the student with income less than 100000 is zero. Tutin fees for the student with income more than 100000 and less than 300000 is 2/3rd of 200000. Tution fees for the students with income more than 300000 and less than 500000 is 1/3rd of 200000. Tution fees for sc and st students is free. Other fees are Examination fees 1000 Registratiion fess 2000 Gymkhana fees 1000 medical fees 1000 hostel admission fees 2000 electricity and water charges 6000 hostel rent 4000 mess advance 36000 library fees 2000 internet fees 2000.
Campus Life :
I have an amazing campus life. here I got a lot of friends some of them are very close. I improved my communication skills. There are many fest happens throughout the year like Techniche annual technical fest ,Alcheringa annual cultural fest, sprit annual sports fest and many summits like udgam and other things. Also there are thousands of books in the library from fiction to mythological, technical and other types. There are many clubs you can join like robotics club ,electronics clubs.aeromodeling club and cultural also like cadance dance club,octaves music club,expressions dramatic club and many more.
Hostel Facilities :
I have got Manas hostel and the hostel culture is very good. Seniors motivates you to take parts in different clubs and fests. First and second year lives in double occupancy room in which there is one table 2 chairs 2 beds and 1 almirah. from third year you will get single occupancy room with same size as above. Fodd qoulity in the hostels is not very good its average only and also there is one canteen and juice centre in every hostel. Hostel allotment is done on the basis of first letter of your name afetr takeing the admission.
Admission :
I got this college from the councelling according to my rank.I was getting some other IITs alos like Kanpur Delhi Madras but i had to compromise with the branch so i took this college. You can get admission here after clr=earing Jee or Gate.And you have to go through councelling process to get admission here.
Faculty :
There are enough faculty in the college. They are highly qualified. They have great teaching experience. They are always there to help you in every possible ways and also they are very punctual they never miss a class. There is proff named Sachin singh Gautam i liked the most because he involves the whole class during teching and intracts with everyone in the class. There was a proff named Utkarsh I disliked most because of his teaching skills and grading . There are four exams in every semester 2 quizes which are reletively easy and 1 midsem and 1 endsem.Paper difficulty depends upon proff to proff.
