Reality of IIT's

I chose this course on the basis of my jee advanced rank, I thought IIT tag would be good, but now i think, i should have taken some other course in some other college. There are two exams per semester, basically you have to give exam every 2 months.

Internship apportunities here are okish, if you are in good department, you will get high stipend, otherwise it is difficult to get internship. Many studens here are very stressed about getting an internship, even in electrical department because it is cumpulsory and if you dont do any, you have to repeat 1 year.

In the final year, a student is eligible for campus placements, 75% of the registered students are placed and the others have to go for off campus placements. also here if you are in a good branch, you will get good package otherwise, you will get w=very low package.

The yearly fee structure for a general category student is 2 lakh as tution fees and 90000 for hostel fees. But for categories like scheduled caste and scheduled tribe, they only have to pay hostel fees around 90000 per year, their tution fees is 0. And for economically weaker section in general category only 33% of tution fees is taken and hostel fees is also required.

Infrastructure provided is good in the classrooms, overall experience in the college is good because you will make some of the freinds of you here only and you can enjoy, study and do anything you want, there are no restrictions on going out. Clubs, societies involvements are great to have.

There are a total of 22 hostels, each consistinng of different types of room ( single , double and triple sharing) and you will randomly get alloted to different hostels, Rooms here are good apart from somethings as the hostels were build 70+ years ago.

I chose this college on the basis of old IIT tag as IIT Kharagpur was very renowned and prestigious institute. Admission process takes place through JOSSA after the jee advanced result, and the process is very easy to follow.

Faculty ratio is good, there is enough professors for every course, Some professors are too much strict, only 5 minutes of delay in a class, they will not accept you in the class and return you to your room. Exams are regular, and it is tough, in my course if you not write exactly as you are taught, you will score very very less.
