IIT Ropar, a brief overview

Dislikes

  • Reachability, location is a bit off, in rural rupnagar
  • While there are a few options for food and groceries, i feel we need even more of them

Course Curriculum Overview :

I wanted to pursue cse so chose IIT Ropar as I was getting CSE here as per me JEE rank. The curriculum is industry relevant and helped a lot for further preparations. I cant think of any chamges required in the curriculum as of now. Its good. Exams are kept regularly with difficulty being above average, which is to be expected to maintain the level of courses being taught

Internships Opportunities :

Comapanies like Microsoft, Google, Adobe, DeShaw etc visit for hiring interns at start of 3rd year, day 0 stipends are usually around 1 lakh+ Projects can be done under faculty or as part of research organisations.

Placement Experience :

Campus placements are done at the end of 7th semester and continue till the end of 8th semester. Lot of top MNCs like Google, Microsoft, Adobe, DeShaw, Sprinklr etc visit our campus and hire students regularly. In my branch, almost 100% students sitting for placements get placed by the time they graduate. I plan to work in IT after graduating

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Tution fee for general students is 1Lakh per semester. For students with income below 5 lakh and more than 1 lakh, 1/3 rd amount has to be paid while no tuition fee for those below 1 lakh annual income. Merit cum means scholarship is available for top 7% students each semester who perform good academically. Other govt scholarships are also available via government scholarship portal.

Campus Life :

Annual cultural fest : Zeitgeist, Tech fest : Advitiya, Sports fest : Aarohan. Typically held in October, Jan/Feb, March respectively. All relevant science journals, books etc are available in library. Classrooms are well equipped with projectors, seats, speaker systems and are air conditioned. We have a dedicated sports ground with facilities for all sports like cricket, football, hockey, badminton etc. We have student run socities like GDSC, sHARE, Enactus etc.

Hostel Facilities :

For BTech students, in first 2/3 years we have double sharing rooms, and after that we get single room per student. Rooms are spacious with godrej almirahs and ample lighting. Mess menu is ok Hostel are affordable with a fee of around 3k per semester. Renting room is not usually allowed, we have to stay in hotels.

Admission :

IIT Ropar was my first preference whule applying according to my rank. No, did not receive rejection elsewhere. Students have to clear JEE mains, and then clear JEE advanced. They can then apply for a seat here via the JOSAA counselling

Faculty :

Average faculty age is between 35-40, and we have a healthy faculty to student ratio. No such case Midsems and endsems for each course, rest quizzes depend on faculty. Courses are very relevant to the branches.

Placement Experience:

The placements of the college is good and differs in every course, the highest placement record is 45.5lpa which is going to be increased the number if companies visiting is also increasing which increases the number of placements and the average package is 8lpa. If I can't get a on campus placement then I will try for off campus placement. Students of final year of their course will be eligible for the placements if they fulfill the company putted criterias. As college promised the 100% placement but it is not right only some students were getting placed who have some extra skills and knowledge Various companies visited the college every year like Autodesk, Cisco, XPERI, Toki, Accenture, Edoofa, delta x, RT camp etc and provides a good number of placements

Placement Experience:

so every year different companies visit our campus and people from the fourth year are able to see for the placement. Firstly, we have to clear a written entrance test once clear that the company will interview them and get the job so the highest package last year went 25,00,00 per annum. However, the average package is six lakh per annum. It completely depends upon your CGPA and your personal skills, how much you groom yourself to be fit for that company. Tech and non-tech companies both visit.

Placement Experience:

If we have skills, we get placements here, and if we work hard, we can get up to 50 LPA. Most of the renowned companies will come for placements, for example, Microsoft, Google, etc. TCS will give a high number of job offers, but the package is low. It all depends on you and your skills. The placement percentage in Computer Science is about 80-90%, and the average is 7 LPA.

Placement Experience:

There were many companies like Microsoft, Infosys, TCS, Google, Wal-Mart and more than 800+ companies visited for campus placements. I will prefer for startup if I will not get the desirable placements offers.

I'm currently in the second year, so not that familiar with the placement process. But the average package is 11-12 LPA. The students are eligible for internships in 5th semester and eligible for placements in 7th semester.

Placement Experience:

CT University has best placement record till now. They have 400+ recruitment partners. Companies like byjus, paytm, infosys, max healthcare and capgemini have already recruited students from CT University. CTU also have corporate resource centre in ct university , to provide ample opportunities for full time internships, on job trainings and placement in reputed companies. Also, students are doing internships with stipends within the university also as CTU ambassadors along wwith theirt study, so this should be a good enough proof of the quality of the skills being imparted to the students.

The placements are good. A lot of companies like PayTm, Maruti Suzuki, etc come every year and recruit a large number of students. The placement process is of several rounds and tests. There is an Entrepreneur Cell that helps students enhance their skills.
