Course Curriculum Overview

4

The specific aspects that influenced me to choose this course are involvement of media and communication, real time updates, history of media and the practical aspects of each of these. In this present generation media and communication are the important keys for success in every field, a good communicator with the knowledge of media can enable ample amount of opportunities. Overall the teaching methods are upto the mark along with its practical classes of graphics and software training but according to me the department should enhance field work so that the students can get rid of public shyness. The exam hours range from 2.5-3 hrs, and students can complete the paper within the time limit if only they don't waste their time intentionally.

Internships Opportunities

4

Some of the renowned companies that offered paid internships are Mentor & Mascot Indian Film Federation(MMIFF) for the roles of content creator, Artists, voice over artists, videographer, video editor and film direction. Magictap also provided job opputunity for males with a in hand salary of 15k from the starting month. Headout offered job roles for content writers for the freshers. There were many other companies that provided paid internships and job role such as SVF, UNBIASLY etc

Placement Experience

4

Campus placements are being provided by SVU from different companies. Multiple Internships are provided from the beginning of the 3rd sem or end of 2nd sem. Some of the famous companies or organisations that provided placements are SVF, magictap, Zee 24 ghanta, Augmentik etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

According to the course I opted that is B.A Hons in journalism and mass communication, it is a 3 yrs graduation course, tution fees is 2.5 lakh. There is another 5k fees for motor skills development of the students. Examination fee for the semesters are 500. The admission fees may vary due to different circumstances such as caste, scholarships or admission councellors. Average package is between 5l to 25l. SVU provides scholarships like SVMCM, Aditya Birla, State minority scholarships for pursuing higher professional education scholarship, merit scholarships for EBC students, CSIRO scholarship and Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Merit Scholarship. For the ST, SC and OBC students, SVU provides the OASIS scholarship of 10000/-.

Campus Life

4.5

SVU celebrates various social and cultural events including fests and freshers. Annual festivals such as republic day, independence day, rabindra jayanti and Gandhi jayanti are celebrated. Conferences are a great way to enhance knowledge and mental growth for that SVU hosts multiple conferences. In 2023, two international conferences were hosted. Seminars, workshops and sports events are also hosted in a scheduled manner. The NSS group of the College looks after the sports events and other activities of the university.

Admission

I applied in SVU for my further studies after higher secondary, I also applied for St. Xavier's, Ashutosh college and Degree college. I choosed SVU because the merit list of Ashutosh and Degree college was late and I thought if due to some circumstances I didn't get my name on the merit list, I have to take a drop thus I got admission in SVU but after the publication of the merit lists I got to know that I have got chance in both Ashutosh and Degree College. Students have to score minimum 45% in higher secondary for getting admission in SVU. The admission process is quite simple, the student should be accompanied with their parents and important documents that would be required for the admission process. The main documents includes admit card of 10th and 12th along with marksheets, bank details , aadhaar card etc.

Faculty

4

The faculty members of the college are very well behaved and helpful in nature. Students can easily interact or approach the faculty members of they face any issues related to classes, doubts or other problems related to the students or seniors. According to my faculty I would like to name some of them who are very much supportive such as Pritha mam, Sujoy sir, Mahendra sir and our respected HOD, Pramiti mam. There are total three exams that includes two internals and the final even semester examination. Practical exams are also there. These exams are not much hard as because the teachers teach everything in the syllabus and also provides notes in every class. There are very less amount of students who are unable to clear the examinations.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I feel the theory part of our curriculum isn't much relevant or prepares for real - world applications, only some basic information is what I feel is necessary, although the lab and the practical part prepares us for real - world applications and teaches us a lot of things related to photography, news paper page building, survey report, etc. I believe they should have a better approach and teach more relevant real - world or in demand market skills which'll help the students in the future. Exams are conducted 2 times in a year, once between March - april, and second time between August - September.

Course Curriculum Overview:

From my childhood, I'm into music and this course allows me to further widen my knowledge of the entertainment industry, films, Television and etc. So this course will allow me to understand how media and journalism world works, and help me pursue the art that I love. The timings could be better of the college, but rather than that everything is mostly good. The frequency in my opinion, should be reduced to 3 main semester exams, and to have small mid semester exams throughout. That's my perspective.

Course Curriculum Overview:

1. I opted for this course because I thought it would have a good practical work, with good exposure and experience. But this course has nothing as such. The documentary we did was done all by ourselves. College did not help at all. There was a photo journalsm option in one paper but our college did not let us study that. They did not teach anything about photography, no practical training was given. 2. None. The curriculum doesn't prepare us for the real world at all. There is no professional study or activities. No preparation for interviews or real world jobs. Only theoretical and advices from our faculty. College doesn't provide any activity that can help us for the real world job. 3. More and more practical work with the help of college. More exposure needed. High quality software and equipments are needed. Students need a GOOD professional lab. More exciting activities for students. Placement opportunities, internships etc. 4. BAD. Per sem arrives in 2.5 months, too short time

Course Curriculum Overview:

Journalism is one of my favorite sudject . One of the reasons for choosing this subject is that only a journalist can highlight the good and bad aspects of our society before the people. The scope of the subject is journalism but it is huge. We can learn not only journalism but also photography, radio, film studies etc. The behaviors of all the professors in the journalism department in this college is very well. They very carefully explain all the topics thoroughly to the students so that the students do not have to face any difficulty with those topics later. Every year two semesters are taken every six months if the students do all the classes carefully and study well then they can easily pass by getting good marks
