Priyanka Roy's Review On National Institute Of Fashion Technology - [NIFT], Navi Mumbai

Entrance Preview :

Nift all india entrance exam. I have always wanted to be a fashion designer and this is the best college and best course in india.

Course Curriculum Overview :

We have 10 subjects and all the subjects are designed to encourage research and thinking out of the box. Some subjects like garment construction is all about practice and achieving perfection.

Internships Opportunities :

Yes, our college does. They recommend us to top companies. The stipend approx is 6k . Since those are very top end companies , doing internship under them is much more than any best experience. We get to learn a lot by doing actually. We know what market is , what is the trend going on, how they manage brands, etc.

Placement Experience :

Our department has the reputation of having 100 percent placements. Job opportunities are fashion designer, head or senior designer, merchandiser, stylist, visual merchandiser, fashion photographer etc.

College Events :

Every year fests happen in our college called converge. We celebrate all the festivals and important days.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Its bit expensive owing ours is a govt college. Ministry of textiles has very minimal contribution to our college.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Our college provides scholarship to students whose parents income is less than 4 lakhs per annum.

Hostel Facilities :

Pgs are quite costly here. 12k fr month approx. Hostel and mess is quite affordable.

Faculty :

Faculties are quite encouraging. They are all well qualified and experienced. They have thorough knowledge of their respective subjects. Most of the faculties have their career pursued abroad in top colleges. So we have the benefits of aquiring that standard of knowledge from them.

I took the NIFT Entrance Test. It is divided into two parts. The first test has CAT (Creative Ability Test) which has 3-4 topics you have to design on and visually present it using dry mediums only and GAT (General Ability Test) which has questions in English, Math and logical reasoning.

Admission:

Once you clear the 2 exams, you are given a rank. Based on your rank, you are given a date on which you have to appear to any NIFT campus near you for counselling. The students are called one by one as per their rank and they can choose from whatever seats and branches are available at the time. Then you have to get your original documents attested and pay the fee to be enrolled in the college.

I gave the JEE-Mains exam in the year 2014 and scored 125/360. I opted for this college due to its great reputation.

Admission:

The college had its own admission process i.e the admission form was available on their site and was not through the DTE admission. The merit lists were released on a regular basis and the whole procedure had gone smoothly. The faculty helped each and every student in their form filling.
