NIFT Bhubaneswar, review based on the Pandemic era.

Remarks :

I have always been into fashion so I decided to opt for some course that educated me about fashion. I went for NIFT entrance exam and I opted for the BFTech course, I.e. Bachelor of Fashion Technology. I could've gone for BFD that is Bachelor of Fashion Designing but it was too mainstream and I wanted to learn more than that. The college is amazing! Such amazing laboratories, such amazing machines, the teachers are fully knowledgeable about their subjects and are understanding. The admission process wasn't too hefty. It all happened online (because of Covid) but if the situation were different, the counselling would've happened offline in the college centers. NIFT official website will let you know all about all the courses provided in there.

Course Curriculum Overview :

This course that I've taken up, BFTech, was different that BFD and that's what made me go for this. As BFD is too mainstream, I wanted to see more and so, I went for this course. For now, there's not much info about the faculty in the college and the students too because we've still haven't been to college offline as this Covid scene is in the picture. But, we do know about the strength of students per batch. Our BFT batch has 35, the BFD batch has 4 batches and per batch there are around 30-35 students. Currently in this pandemic time, the teaching method is online and to be honest, it's not too effective as NIFT courses are all practical-based, but the teachers put in their best to make the students understand and they are very patient and good in their subject. The term examinations were on time and as the jury couldn't evaluate our papers cause of Covid, we were asked to submit our end term assignments as the exams and we were evaluated on the basis of the same.

Internships Opportunities :

No idea of the internships for now. I'm still a first-year student. the moment I'll get the chance to go for my internships, I'm going to write a review on the same. Bur our teachers used to tell us in the first semester about our seniors being too busy in their internships. Our teachers used to receive a lot of calls from the same students and teachers used to be busy too. Internships must be good here in NIFT, bbsr.

Placement Experience :

I don't know much about the placements and all, but they are definitely good. No doubt. The students here do go for internships. My plans after getting a degree is to go for masters. Maybe, if possible, do some part-time job and do my masters along.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The EXACT fee that's paid here every semester is- 1,52,850 rupees. And in one year, there are two semesters. That makes it around 3Lakhs per year. But I have an issue with the fee in this pandemic time. Every course here in NIFT is heavily based on practical's, but due to the pandemic, we are not able to attend the college. And we are not using anything/ any material that the college provides. And for every practical-based subject, we are asked to buy the materials on our own, with our own money and in the pandemic we are not even getting anything easily. But as the evaluation has to be done on the basis of the same, we are HAVE to buy them and do it. It's fine. There's no issue except one. Why are we asked to pay the exact amount of fee when we aren't even going to the college. At least 50-60 thousand should be deducted from the fee structure and the remaining should be paid.

Campus Life :

There's not much to say about what happens in the college as I haven't been there offline, but I can say about the social groups for students run by students. So there are these 5 groups or as we call them- Clubs. They are- Cultural Club, Literary Club, Social and Environment Club, Film and Photography Club, and Sports Club.

Course Curriculum Overview:

They start with very beginner thing so you get to learn right form the start. The connection in between is very understanding. There's nothing as such to improve everything is being set properly according to the industry. They also prepares you for the real world by giving some collaborative class room projects. The exams are being taken in 3 parts midterms, end terms and final juries. The duration between them is fair as well.

The placements are great. We are located in a corporate area which makes companies very accessible to the students of our college. We have companies like gucci, google, mondelez, dr. reddys and many more such companies coming to our college not just for placements but also for internships.

Students are required to undergo observerships and apprenticeships from the first year itself. Many companies arrive on campus every summer to conduct these hires, such as Deloitte, Landor, Tata, Kohler, Havells, Adobe, Google, etc. The recorded overall placement success rate was 92%. The highest recorded international package stood at 1.2 CR per annum, offered by Google. The average package was recorded at 11 LPA. Students are required to undergo a capstone project in their final year.

We will only know about the campus placements and packages offered this year as this is the first time a batch is graduating from this campus. The average package as we've heard is 8 lakhs per annum. The Pune campus is older and it's said to have good placements as well so the same is expected here as well.

Placement Experience:

The placements are decent. As mentioned, they bring in corporate companies rather than design studios, so it is a given that you get a good salary. The placements department coordinates through email and you have to do tasks and interviews until finally get the job. A lot of students apply on their own too though.

Once you passed your 7th semester then you are eligible for campus placement. For campus placement your academic score should be good your attendance should be up to the mark and you have to participate in other social activities. Some government job is also provided for you. There are so many companies who visit NIFT every year companies like Raymond, Siyaram, Arvind mills visit there. Even you can take a job in Amazon, Flipkart, Zabong and on so many digital platforms. Even you can start your own website or if you are rich enough then you can open your own company. Almost 90% of students got campus placement as you are studying in one of the best colleges in India. My plan is to open my own website and work for it.
