Unique and Exciting

Remarks :

Well apart for the Extracurricular activities , mostly sports , everything is fine.

Entrance Preview :

To gain Admission in to this college, one must be a state subject of JK and should have passed 12th grade or equivalent with 50% marks, and subject must be PCB. Selection is done on merit , obtained from the UET or University Entrance Test conducted each year. For the BFSc course, One or two seats are reserved for the outside students, selection of which is done by ICAR.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Course curriculum is very unique from the rest of the country. SKUAST K is the leading university in the mountain agriculture and the Faculty of Fisheries is the one and only that does research on Coldwater and Hill Fisheries. The college has done tremendous amount of research in temperate Agriculture and allied fields like Horticulture, sericulture, Fisheries Science, Veterinary Science etc. It's due to the SKUAST K 's research and hard work of the Kashmiri farmers that Kashmir is the 5th largest apple producer in the world.

Internships Opportunities :

Yes, the SKUAST provides internship for all the courses.I can't share my experience beacuse I am still in 2nd year

Placement Experience :

In the horticulture and Agriculture sector , jobs are available but limited. In fisheries there is literally job crunch as the fisheries sector is not yet at its best potential in JK. Buy it can develop in the very near future as might be the economy booster and Job provider.

College Events :

Participation in every event is more than expected. Throughout the calendar college celebrates each and every event whether that be World Fisheries day , Agriculture day, Veterinary Day etc. Painting competitions , Seminars, etc are held several times in each year. Also cleaning drives, social awareness programs are held too.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

For the open merit students , fee structure is fine but for self finance, it's a bit on the heavy side and that goes on with the hostel too. It's almost 10K for each semester for open merit student and 30k for Self-financing student. And for the transportation it's around 700-1000

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

I have no idea about this. But yeah if you get the admission on open merit you really don't have to pay much.

Hostel Facilities :

A student can opt for shared room or just stay alone , expenses of which gets logically doubled. Best part of the Hostel is that it's located just beneath the zabarwan mountain range at the main campus Shalimar, where the view is beautiful. Food quality is good Sports facilities are nicely provided

Alumni/Alumna :

Seniors are way too helpful in every aspect. SKUAST K has strictl rules against ragging and harrassing.

Exam Structure :

Each semester has two exams, Midterm and Endterm. Midterm is of 30 Marks and 50 marks in Endterm and 20 for practicals , assignments and presentations.Yeah, Exams are very frequently conducted which is a bit of headache for students. Paper is 40 percent objective and 60 percent subjective.

Admission :

To get admission you need to get as much as score in UET. This entrance exam is conducted in June and the notification is published 2 months before. On the basis of points scored in UET you can get your desired course in the college. Once selected , you need to submit all the required documents in orginal, if required documents are submitted successfully, you get the admission.

Faculty :

Every course instructor in the college is a PhD holder and teach there respective courses. So you can yourself understand what will be the standard. Moreover the college is equipped with state of the art technology in every nook and corner, whether that be in the laboratories or classrooms.

Placement Experience:

The campus is given to students for MSC courses in skaust. The biggest problem here is that no companies or else visit here and we totally rely upon the govt jobs. About 60% of students get it to Govt offerer jobs and others get it to other fields. I think I will go for PhD and will do research in the future.
