Course Curriculum Overview :

Biotechnology is itself a very difficult and complicated course , a student has to give his best in order to understand the concepts well . Cirriculum of the college is really nice you will get time to be prepared and prepares you for real-world applications or further academic pursuits like IITJAM BIOTEC , GATB , CUETPG , AIIMS etc . the difficulty level is moderate if the student has prepared well and has clear concept in mind she can do well in exams.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The complete course will cost you 2.4 lakh which is quite affordable as compared to other colleges since biotec is a very complicated and advanced course. The yearly fee for GEN/BC-2 is 79950 and for ST /SC/BC-1 is 73510 . There are 2 semester in one year. Two types of scholarships are available for the students: 1. e-Kalyan Jharkhand Scholarship: This is state level scholarship. The students of Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste and Backward Caste who studying in Graduate and Postgraduate can apply for this scholarship 2. National Scholarships Portal: NSP is taken as Mission Mode Project under National eGovernance Plan. Students can apply for scholarships through NSP.

Campus Life :

Many annual and cultural festivals are celebrated in the college eg sarhul, Christmas etc. St. Xavier’s College Central Library holds 1,66,669 books and 105 national and international periodicals. Apart from the online database provided by N-List, the library also holds e-journal and e-book database of renowned publishers such as Sage. The Central Library is automated with library management software called “Alice for Windows”. The web OPAC is fully functional. Apart from the Central Library there are department libraries managed by the respective department and a separate PG library with 5,750 books for postgraduate students. There are 99 Class rooms and seminar halls including 32 rooms equipped with SMART boards. There are 32 Labs for different programs and departments including a dedicated GIS Lab. Many extracurricular activities are offered on campus like sports, dance , music etc.

Admission :

You have to give xavier's enterance exam which is a mcq based exam of 100 question in total . You have to score 55+ marks in order to be selected in 1st list . There are reservation policy in college like : Category Percentage% SC -10% ST -26% BC-I -8% BC-II -6% Total 50% Seat is very less for the course , it should be increased so that deserving candidate can take admission too . The cutoff should be 45+marks. General candidate should also get equal oppourtinity

Faculty :

All the facalty members are most probably msc , phd holder inculding our HOD. Facalty is good but the level of help one student needs is lacking . You have to figure things out by your own self since they will only give you a little guidance. Studying in this college will make you self dependent person since you cannot expect much from your teacher.

Other Applied Colleges

Amity University | Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} (Biotechnology)

Too costly..since it is a private university the price is too much high . For 3 years course it will cost you 4 lakh in total including everything . There are many more cheaper option available nowadays

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course I opted for is Bachelor in Computer Applications with cyber security, where I learn about programming languages(currently learning about C and C++), and then it comes to cyber security which is a part of the curriculum in the final year, I chose this course because of my interest in cyber security and forensics, also this course makes you industry ready to get into compies like wipro and Infosys. Exams in the college are very punctual, happen 2 times per semester, mid and end-semester exams.

Placement Experience:

The campus placement opportunities for B.Sc students is highly unsatisfactory as hardly any companies visit for placement. Although, there are placement opportunities for the commerce background students. The average package ranges from 3-4 LPA. Only 40-50% students get placements in satisfactory companies. Because of the New Education Policy, I plan to give the NET exam so that I am eligible for a job while I apply for M.Sc course.
