Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University, Ranchi (formerly known as Ranchi college) was established in 1946 as a college and upgraded to a university in 2017. DSPMU offers around 39 courses spread across different streams like Humanities, Science, and Social Science. DSPMU admits students on the basis of merits and entrance exam scores obtained in the relevant qualifying exam. The applicants are required to apply online through the official website.

Ques. How are the faculties of the university?
Ans. The faculties at the university are highly qualified. Each department has faculties working at the post of Assistant Professor.
Ques. Does the university provide reservation quota during admission?
Ans. Yes. There is a reservation for students belonging to Jharkhand wherein 85% of the seats are reserved for them in the Faculty of Social Science/ Humanities/ Science. Selection for remaining 15% seats shall be made open for all i.e. Jharkhand as well as other states’ students on the basis of merit. These seats shall also be filled up by students belonging to all Categories. For the students who have domicile of Jharkhand, 40% of the seats shall be made on the basis of open merit irrespective of sex, caste, etc. Rest 60% of the seats are to be filled up exclusively by the students belonging to the reservation category in the following proportion:
- ST- 26%
- SC- 10%
- Extremely Backward class – 8%
- Backward Class – 6%
- Economically weaker section – 10%
A horizontal reservation of 5% shall be given for differently-abled persons. Candidates must furnish relevant documents (caste certificate and medical certificate) issued by the competent authority of Jharkhand State.
Ques. How does the admission take place in the university?
Ans. The admission procedure includes filling up the form available online on the official website. The selection is based on the merit produced by the university on the basis of marks obtained in the relevant subject in the previous institutions. Admission to vocational courses is done through the entrance test conducted by the relevant department. Admission for add-on/ certificate courses is done through an Aptitude Test conducted by the University whereas, for Ph.D., the candidate must have cleared UGC-NET post which the selection is done through an interview.

Ans. Yes. The college gives extra weightage at the time of admission:
- 10% weightage is given to employees/ wards of employees of the university.
- NCC cadets holding “B” & “C” certificates shall be given weightage of 5% marks.
- NCC cadets holding “A” certificates shall be given a weightage of 3% marks.
- The Scouts and Guides who are the recipient of Rashtrapati Awards are given a weightage of 5% marks.
- Graduated students from the university who would want to pursue their Post graduation in the university are awarded 10% marks in PG admission.
- NSS Volunteers participating in the Republic Day Celebration at the National level are given a weightage of 5% marks.

First one has to fill the application form, then one has to give the entrance exam, and then after giving the entrance exam, when the name appears in the merit list, then After the merit list is released, the student is called for an interview in the college, after that the student is interviewed, after that the parents are called and a meeting is arranged with them, after that the admission fee is paid.

To be eligible for zoology hons. One must have completed their 10 +2 with science background. Cut off is high for general category students and reservation is provided to reserved category. All the details about the admission related issues are available in chancelor portal of Ranchi University. Regular exams are conducted with results published with a short term after exam . Admission site is comparitavily slow and stops working at times , this is an area where the university needs improvement.

- Infrastructure is nice ,there is a separate building for vocational and non vocational courses, outside our college beautiful artwork is present, we are provided lift facility, free wifi is also there for benefit of students
- Staff is good,all professors are highly professional in their fields, they have great experience of teaching, we are provided with smaft technologies to enhance our studied, teachers are very cooperrative in nature.
Admission:
You have to study math's compulsory in 12th standard, Admission process is very simple you just have to give entrance test and get enrolled in college by submitting necessary documents. You will get reservation for sc, st, obc and ews and sports quota is also available.

Our admission happened via entrance test which is fair for all the students who somehow unable to score good marks in the boards. We fill our application form online via chancellor portal in which almost all the colleges and universities put their forms, so it's one stop for student to access the application of all the colleges. Exams are not too tough to clear if you have the notes of the class then it's easy score good marks.

Students must complete graduation from recognised university. Students must be appeared in CUET test. Exam level is high. You have to read GK, GS and Reasoning for CUET and rest syllabus of honour subject of graduation.

- The things which I dislike about the college is that the locality of the peoples there boys of the college are used to go there drinks cigarette and other addictive things which I don't like
- The second thing which I don't like about the college is that its placement we don't get placement despite of working hard

I have got the admission in the college on the basis of my 12th scores but now after implementing NEP you'll have to give entrance then you're eligible to this course Online applications are only available, offline applications are not available If you belong to St/SC/OBC candidates then state scholarship is provided to you by state govt. And students of minority is also provided scholarship of central government by NSP Questions which are asked in the entrance exams are easy it is of 12th level so you don't have to worry about it

- The ambiance of the campus is great, but sometimes it is not well cleaned, and manged.

The admission process was quite smooth, Eligibility was min. 60% in academic. The application form was available online, and also all the process done was done on the internet. S/C, S/T, reservations are available and also there is a criteria for the economicaly weaker section. The frequency of the exam was regular and the difficulty level was quite moderate. The process should be made more transparent so that everyone must be aware of the process and also it makeing it transparent will disarm the fishi things.

Eligibility for the course : should be 12th pass with pcm maths is compulsory. Application form can be filled from dr shyama prasad mukherjee university site. Benefits are given to OBC , SC and st caste not for general. Exams are conducted within 1 month of completion of 12th exams and is conducted every year. The difficulty level is easy to moderate depending upon the preparation The application form should be listed on Chancellor portal instead of Dspmu website

Firstly there is a medium of entrance to college of different streams are via different modes of process. In my case I got admission through my 12th percentage,also from now onwards college admission will be only possible by the cutoff of CUET as of the category you belong. You can fill the Application form of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University ranchi by visiting the official site of ranchi University or chancellor portal and can login and apply for the course , whatever you wants. Reservation is only limited to OBC, SC and St, no benefits to general like me .You will get much more amount than the tuition fees if you are in reserved category candidate.Also during merit based admission obc category cut-off was of 70% ,for SC category was 55% and for St category was 52% as of current.I want to assure u that no perks shall be given to the candidate of General Category.I would like draw some attention regarding Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University is the lack of discipline in students
