Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is quite fulfilling and up-to-date with the contemporary industrial standards. However, there can be some improvements in the approach of teaching, like there should be a more practical approach for imparting of knowledge. Exams consist of Mid Semester(30 marks), Minor Test(10 marks), and End Semester(50 marks) examinations. Rest 10 marks is given on the basis of Attendance and/or Assignment and/or class test(s).

Internships Opportunities :

Some major IT companies provide internships to around 30-40 students from the circuital branches while only a few get paid internship opportunities from the non-circuital core branches. Other students usually do their internships from either off campus (which is rare) or from any PSU companies. The projects and outcomes can vary according to the companies in which internhsip takes place but it usually is a great experience for learning and applying the knowledge in the practical world.

Placement Experience :

Placements start from 7th semester and get completed till the end of 8th semester. Major companies like Amazon, AWS, Accenture, Honda, L&T, Ashok Leyland, Mahindra, Vedanta, etc along with many other companies visit for providing campus placement opportunities. Highest CTC goes upto 52 LPA with average being 12.6 LPA Nearly 80-90 percent of all the students get placed on an average every year. Students who do not get placed go for off campus placements, exams for getting jobs, or opt for higher studies.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Tution fee is around 75,000 INR per semester. Tution fee increase policy is a bit ambiguous and the fee can get increased without prior notice. The complete cost including tution fees, hostel, mess, and all the other fees is around 8.6 Lacs INR. There is a tution fee waiver for SC/ST students and students whose annual family income is below 5 Lacs. For students whose annual family income is between 1-5 Lacs, their tution fee is waived off by 2/3rd and for SC/ST students and students whose annual family income is less than 1 Lacs, the tution fee is waived off completely. But they still need to pay other charges(hostel, electricity, library, bus, etc) and mess fee which comes around 34,000 INR per semester. Students availing fee relaxation have to produce their caste/income certificate (whichever is applicable). There are no campus employment opportunities or stipends for Undergraduate students as of now.

Campus Life :

There are two major annual fests. The annual technical festival known as Tecnoesis is held in the month of October and the annual cultural fest known as Incandescence is generally held in the month of February. Other than these, there are also events like Posua celebrated by the Assamese students, Oikyotaan celebrated by Bengali students, Abhyuday celebrated by students from Bihar and UP and Ugaadi celebrated by students from South India, especially from Andhra Pradesh & Telangana. There are a lot of cultural, literaty and technical clubs in which any student can participate right from first year to final year. Course books are available in the library which are given at the start of a semester and are to be returned by the end of the semester. Other books are also available for reading inside the library. Classrooms are equipped with projectors. Sports facilities are above average with cricket & football grounds, basketball & badminton courts, etc.

Hostel Facilities :

Hostels are above average, some being old and some being new. All the students residing in the hostel get a cupboard in their room, rooms are fitted with fans (one for small and two for big rooms with 3 occupants). Some hostel rooms have balcony while some don't. Hostels are alloted at the start of every year of study. For 1st year to 3rd year, three and two-seater rooms are given (some students are given single rooms in the first year) and the students of 4th year are given single rooms. Mess food quality is good. Students are the members of mess committee and hence they can keep a check on the mess food quality. All the students are allotted hostel rooms so you don't need to rent any room or PG outside the campus.

Admission :

The admissions to Undergraduate Courses are taken on the basis of JEE (Main) scores through JoSSA and CSAB counselling. The cutoff percentile for BTech Mechanical engineering is around 95-96%ile for Other State Candidates and 90-91%ile for Home State Candidates. There are seats reserved for female candidates due to which their cutoff is a bit lower.

Faculty :

At NIT Silchar, the faculty-to-student ratio is around 7:1. Nearly all the faculty members are Post-Doctorate degree holders, many of them from IITs and some even from foreign universities. Except a small number of faculty members, the teaching style of most of the professors is good and understandable. Their course structure is well-formed. Their syllabus completion is also fulfilled within the stipulated time. Professors are quite approachable. They do interact with students who have any query before or after their class hours. Some of them even provide their contact number to the students so that the students can reach them when needed. Overall, the faculty members have very good credentials, their teaching style is good and they're quite approachable.

It's a fact that the Indian education system is not designed or promoted for skills sharing. But if you are in CIT the scenes are quite different. In CIT various seminars and programs related to a high balance between a curriculum and an industrial side

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have choose EE because it's have both core and it features so i believe that I will go for core but if the situation changes then accordingly i will shift. The curriculum is pretty good in this campus according to me that's why I have choose this course. I don't think I have enough thinking level to suggest about that. Before exam there should be some gap for studies purpose I mean to say classes should be off. And everything is good.

Placement Experience:

Placement drives are held in December of every year for the students who complete their 7th semester. Placements are quite good over here, The highest package this year is 2.4 crore and the average package fluctuates between 20 to 25 LPA every year. One can also go for higher studies, there is no harm.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My branch is Computer Science and Engineering. I am interested in computer skills like gaming, web development, coding, etc that's why I choose this course. In my college, every facility is provided like labs, sports ground and kits, medical facility, hostels and mess and, well educated and skilled faculty. Faculty : student ratio is around 1:50. Faculties are well experienced (Ph.D. holders) and have good teaching skills. But, I want to mention one thing that, you can't totally depend on the faculty, you need to pay extra effort by itself. B.Tech is of 4 years course that is divided into 8 semesters. Every semester 2 main exams are conducted. Exams are not much easy but also not too hard. You need to focus on academic too for decent pointers. If you are a sincere student then getting a good pointer is not hard.
