Dislikes

  • The campus leaves a lot to be desired and is rather small.
  • The lack of a canteen is a bit of a problem for students who come from afar.

Course Curriculum Overview :

B. A. Ll. B. is the fundamental and definitive degree for law. It is a must for anyone in the field of law. However the degree itself and the curriculum is quite theoretical in nature and doing internships makes us realise that the practical side of Law is neglected in the course.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

There are various scholarships available such as swami vivekananda scholarship. The fees structure is very reasonable as it is a government college. It can easily be afforded by an average middle class Indian family.

Campus Life :

South calcutta Law college holds an annual social Atharva cuarto which is a big event with cultural activities as well as guest performance as the climax. The fest also includes various indoor and outdoor sports competitions and even a moot court competition. The library is vast.

Admission :

Admission is through the CU B.A.LL.B entrance examination and this particular college is among the top 4 government college which is the hardest to get selected for. There is reservation for SCST and OBC. As it is an entrance examination the cutoff varies.

Faculty :

The faculty to student ratio is quite healthy. The professors are very qualified and also co-operative with the students. The faculty includes distinguished authors and P.Hd holders. The classes are actively meant to be interesting by providing real life parallels.

Placement Experience:

NUJS boasts near 100% placements, there is a dedicated Campus Recruitment Committee which has elected student members as well as a Faculty Co-ordinator. Some students get PPOs and therefore they do not sit for Day Zero. Tier 1 and Tier 2 law firms as well as Mncs hire with packages ranging around 14-20 lpa.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Law as a course has developed throughout the years and there are only a few shortcomings in the studying aspect of it. Law, in a broad sense, can be applied to almost each and every problems that citizens of India face, be it corporate law, criminal, civil law. In an even broader sense, there is Constitutional law. A major fault in the teaching and course is the excessive teaching of landmark judgements and lesser number of moot courts which in practice might land young lawyers in trouble coming from the judiciary since they're just too much aware of different landmark judgements but not the cases/context behind it. Mainly, four exams are held which concern the actual marks- Internals and Externals. First internal and external is typically held on January or February and Second internal and external during July or August.

Course Curriculum Overview:

1)My decision towards taking this course started from class 11...I always wanted to fight rather provide justice and to know the citizens point of view and to provide the citizens of the country justice... 2)The curriculum really prepared us really well ... revisions after revisions helping us to understand each and everything in very simple and easy language... 3)I am no one to give suggestions as each thing about the teaching method of the teachers are splendid 4) The difficulty level is surely there but even after that the teacher manages us well though doubt clearing classes so that we feel easy

Course Curriculum Overview:

I can say, that the college has one of the best faculty I have ever seen. The course curriculum is also very good as it has a very planned course which enables you to be a good lawyer in the future. The professors are very good and knowledgeable and most important the way they teach is amazing. One can score high marks if he has clear knowledge of the subjects.
