- Hazra Law College: Overall structure and ambience of the college. I didn't expect it to be this good since the Google reviews suggested otherwise.
- Faculty: The faculty is fantastic. Professors are understanding and very professional. They're good when it comes to thie respective subjects.

- Office: It is best to try to avoid the office because of the unreasonable amount of time taken to resolve queries/obtaining signatures is frustrating
Course Curriculum Overview :
Law as a course has developed throughout the years and there are only a few shortcomings in the studying aspect of it. Law, in a broad sense, can be applied to almost each and every problems that citizens of India face, be it corporate law, criminal, civil law. In an even broader sense, there is Constitutional law. A major fault in the teaching and course is the excessive teaching of landmark judgements and lesser number of moot courts which in practice might land young lawyers in trouble coming from the judiciary since they're just too much aware of different landmark judgements but not the cases/context behind it. Mainly, four exams are held which concern the actual marks- Internals and Externals. First internal and external is typically held on January or February and Second internal and external during July or August.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Since I'm in the Department of Law, university of Calcutta, main campus, the fee is minimal. During admission you'll be required to pay a fee of 1895/- and 750/- as semester fee and 250/- as examination fee. It is the lowest in terms of other law colleges. The total cost that will be incurred by me till the final year will stand around 15-20k including the price of the books. Students can enroll their names in different scholarships like Kanyasree Prakalpa and Swami Vivekananda scholarship. The scholarship amount generally ranges from 1000/- per month in Kanyasree Prakalpa and 12,000/- for Swami Vivekananda scholarship for students pursuing this course. Since this is a government college, it offers no placements but one can apply for practice/internship through the members of the Union.
Campus Life :
If i were to describe the campus life in one word, it would be 'GREAT'. The student union is very friendly. It conducts Freshers, farewells, fests etc. Celebrations for Durga Puja, kali puja, Lakshmi Puja is held on campus and night stay is associated with it generally. The books in the library ranges from judgements by court dating back to 1800s to the very recent judgements. The library also consists of books which deal with unique and very important cases which has proven to make an impact on the Indian judicial system. There is an anti ragging committee in the campus and also a sexual harassment committee which makes the campus even safer for the students regardless of their gender.
Admission :
Application is done completely online. Students who are interested in pursuing this course has to sit for an Entrance Exam(Calcutta University Law Entrance Test). Approximately 10,000 students sit for this exam every year. One's rank has to be above 120 to get into this college. Total no of seats in this college is 120 out of which 60 are reserved for categories other than General. The application fee for General is 500 and 250 or less for reserved category candidates. To apply for admission, one has to visit caluniv.ac.in Entrance exam is held once a year and current affairs, geography, analogy, English, mathematics, History, Political Science, Quantitave and Qualitative Aptitude shall be studied thoroughly.
Faculty :
There are two professors for every 100 students which I think is enough. Many of the professors have done their PhDs. Class tests are held just a month before the internal exams and it helps identify any shortcomings. The approach of the professors is problem based which reduces the chance of encountering any completely unseen problems when it comes to the syllabus. The interaction between the professor and students is an appreciable one considering the extra amount of efforts given by the professors to help prepare us for our career. Moreover, the presence of projectors and laptops in the classrooms has further eased the process of learning of the students.
