- This year we had our fests cancelled due to some reason. The campus isn't that active on an entertainment basis
- There's a language barrier for people coming from other parts of India, not just in campus but if you need anything else too.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I am in mechanical engineering. It's quite a good course if you are interested in the mechanics of machines and other stuff. Especially if you enjoy physics, this would be a great course for you. Mechanical is the most flexible branch as there's career options from every other field after this. Hence it was my decision to join this branch. There's a mid sem and end sem every semester along with class tests and quizzes for the internal marks.
Internships Opportunities :
Internships provided are good. If you have developed your skillset, you'll get good opportunities for getting experience along with a proper stipend. There are lot of opportunities in Kerala as well as other states most specially Bangalore. There are various companies offering internships here.
Placement Experience :
The placements are fine . Since it is an NIT, it automatically boosts your CV and helps in getting off campus placements and internships. The campus placements are fine by NIT standards. There are a lot of other opportunities
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Tution fee is fine. I think nits are the most cheap National institutes in India that provide engineering. The complete cost of my education will be around 9 to 10 lakhs including hostel and travel. There are numerous scholarships available if you are able to be credible for it.
Campus Life :
The experience was fine. I did enjoy my first year but the entertainment facilities aren't enough and there's always a language barrier. The sports facilities are very good and there are clubs but personally I don't have that great of a campus life.
Hostel Facilities :
The hostel is fine. First year you are provided a hostel (A or B) where you have 3 roommates. The mess is in the hostel itself. The quality of food isn't that good but is fine by hostel standards. In the second year you are shifted to the mega hostel which is outside the main campus.
Admission :
Admission process is based on jee mains rank. Mechanical branch requires 20k to 27k rank if you are a general OS candidate. JOSSA counselling provides you the facility of counselling. There are 7 rounds and then 2 CSAB rounds at the end of which you are handed your college
Faculty :
There are enough number of faculties present that you will always be guided well. All the faculties are well qualified to help you in your career. You can interact with your teachers anytime you want. There will be a FA assigned to you when you join the college, who will help you with any problem you are facing academic wise or anything else. The faculty live in the campus itself so there isn't any problem of not being able to contact them.
