NIT Jamshedpur review

  • The quality of infrastructure is one of the area where our college could improve.
  • The diversity you expect from a college, you'll not get here I mean most of the students will be either from Bihar or Jharkhand.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The curriculum is not that tough, you'll get enough time which you can use to learn new skills and the college has various clubs which will help you with this. There are regular industrial visits, which will make you learn about practical aspects and also will teach you about the safety measures that you need to have. However I believe the curriculum is way too theoretical and lacks innovation. But our college and faculty members are working on this and it'll improve. The exams are not too tough, however, the frequency of exams is high but it was because our session was delayed due to COVID-19.

Internships Opportunities :

There are good internship opportunities available with our college but to be honest it is not that satisfactory. Tata Steel, Jindal Steel, Flipkart and many more companies offer internships with stipends.

Placement Experience :

The placement opportunities of our college is fantastic. About 98 percent of our college students where placed last year. The maximum CTC was 83.40 LPA. And the average CTC was about 16 LPA. I think our college has the best placement stats if you compare it to a college with a similar rank.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Our tuition fees is about 62000 and after adding mess fees which is 16000, hostel fees which is 18000 and other institute fees which is 10500 the total fees is about 115000 per semester. There is 100% tuition fees waiver for SC/ST/PH students, full fee remission of the Tuition fees for general and OBC students whose family income is below 1 lakh per annum and remission of 2/3rd of the Tuition fees for General and OBC students whose family income is between 1 lakh to 5 lakh per annum.

Campus Life :

We have Ojass which is our annual technical fest and it is the second largest technical fest of East India. Then we have Urja which is our annual sports fest and then we have our Culfest. Our college library has a wide range of books, there are books of finance, business, entrepreneurship, personality development and many more. There are all kinds of sports facilities available in our college. Even faculty members also play with us. There aur various clubs which will help you to improve your skills.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel facility is too good. In first year you'll have a room partner and from second year you'll have your single room. The bathroom is clean and hostel Life is the best part of our college. The meal quality is average and there is a variety and the food is healthy.

Admission :

The admission is done on the basis of your JEE main rank. The cutoff veries every year depending on the number of students which appeared for the exam. The cutoff also varies according to the category of the students. If our CRL rank is below 35000 they it'll be considered a safe score and the probability to getting admitted to this college is high. The cutoff also varies with branch.

Faculty :

The faculty to student ratio is something that the college needs to improve. But the way they teaches is exceptional, they are very supportive, very experienced. There are even some faculties who will help you even when they are busy. There are doubt sessions and tutorials to clear your doubts. Even some faculties will play sports with you, which is really entertaining.

The placements are declining day by day. In 2022 the average package was around 14lpa and highest was 56lpa but after that it has decreased significantly. Percentage of students have also declined . In ECE around 80% students get placed with an average package of 11lpa . Companies like Nvidia do visit the campus.

After the completion of 3 rd years, students are eligible for placement. About 10 companies came when I was there and they don't have soo many offers. The highest package of 10 lakh waa given to our best student in computer science the average package was 5-6 lakh that's the average package of most colleges here it is the same. The placements of students were quite average about 70 % cause most of the students get diverted. I planned to go in some other field apart from engineering.
