What Students Say
Likes
- I chose IGNOU for my graduation and post graduation as distance education was more suitable for me than regular education at that time as I had some financial constraints.
- I liked the syllabus of the course as it was interesting and provided me proper knowledge about my subject. I did not face any kind of issues due to distance learning as the mentors were highly educated and proficient in teaching.
- I had no tutor during my graduation and post-graduation as I did not feel the need. IGNOU made me able to study by my own without taking help from others. The syllabus was detailed and compact so I never face any problem in understanding.
Dislikes
- As it was a distance education I could not make much friends. Classes were taken on Saturday and Sunday for which I used to be unable to make other engagements on weekend.
- IGNOU does not provide any placement and sometimes distance learning create obstacles in the path of career. Delay in the announcement of result and assignment marks was one of the things I did not like about this university.
Course Curriculum Overview
I must say that the syllabus of the IGNOU was one of the major reasons behind my admission in this university. The university provides relevant and compact study materials that are easy to comprehend. The syllabus provided in-depth knowledge about the subject and enhanced my interest in my subject. The knowlede I have gained will surely help me in my future career.
Fees and Financial Aid
As per my university, I can say that initially it took 4000 per year and provided all the study materials and online access. IGNOU does not provide any placement, which I think is a drawback of this university. It offers a scholarship to M.Phil and PhD students of 5000 and 8000 monthly, respectively.
Campus Life
All the study materials including books and journals were easily accessible online so I did not face any issues in accessibility. As per my knowledge it has student portals to help students and other than that I have not participated in any of the extra curriculum acivities as my study center did not organised any. Socialising was difficult as it was a distance education.
Admission
Taking admission in IGNOU is not so much difficult as there is no entrance test for admission. Students have to complete their higher secondary education in order to take admission in this university for graduation. Admission can be taken online and offline but the draft of 4000 rupees must be submitted in Bikash Bhawan for students of Kolkata. The exams held in June and December and students have the facility to choose which month they want to give the exam as per their preparation. The question papers are moderate to difficult in nature.
Faculty
All the mentors were highly experienced and proficient in teaching. The way they used to teach was easily understandable. They were easily approachable in the class to clear all the doubts of students. Some mentors shared their personal numbers so that students can easily reach out to them for help after the class. Contacting with some of the mentors was a little bit problematic
