- Too much focus on courses and academic load is too high which sometimes is too much for students to get into other things.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The curriculum is well shaped and essential things are prioritized. There is also focus on general science, humanities and project courses which aims to make students known to all areas. The engineering aspects are well focused and in cohesion such that each course complements the next.
Internships Opportunities :
The internship opportunities start coming from the 4th semester and properly start from 5th semester. The internships are taken very seriously here as, more than half of them are converted to full time offers. Almost 50-60% of students get internships in their junior year. Some also do academic internships at prestigious institutions like Caltech, Purdue, etc.
Placement Experience :
Students become eligible for internships from the beginning of third year (5th semester), although there are a handful of companies who are also open for the second year students. The internship process is rigid and a long race. Most companies give PPOs to the interning students. Students become eligible for placements from the beginning of their fourth year (7th semester). The best companies come early on and then the average companies keep coming throughout the year. These average companies still offer 10+ LPA offers. This year 70% of the students got placed. Others went on for higher studies abroad and some went for MBA, Government Jobs, etc. Highest package this year was 63 LPA.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fee structure for one semester is as below: Tuition fee: Rs. 100000 Other Allied charges: Rs. 8388 Hostel Rent: Rs. 17250 Mess and Laundry fee: Rs. 21000 Apart from this there is a one time admission fee and refundable security deposit of Rs 11500 at the beginning of first semester.
Campus Life :
The campus life is very vibrant. There are all kinds of clubs and activities here. Students come here from every corner of the country and there is always a place in the institute for everyone to find something they enjoy, be it sports, arts, cultural activities, technical clubs. People find themselves being a part of family and they become comfortable in their uncomfortable zones. All these groups and clubs in the institute are student run including the Tech Summit and Cult Fest. These draw a lot of attention and student learn a lot from these things.
Hostel Facilities :
The hostel facility here is probably the best in engineering colleges in india. The hostels feel like hotel room with good and clean bathrooms. 24*7 hot water, air conditioning at night and spacious corridors. The mess meal is the best. It is diverse and feels like a meal cooked at home. The best thing is the mess menu changes every month so you don't get bored.
Admission :
The admission was based on the JEE Advanced rank. The admission was done through the JOSAA counselling and the process was smooth. A mail from the Dean was received once my seat was confirmed and I just had to fill the details that were asked in the email. On doing so I received the offer letter. JEE Advanced can be given twice once in the year of passing class 12th and once in drop year. The exam is extremely difficult but I've found consistent practice is the key.
Faculty :
The faculties teaching here are all smart people who are foremost in their areas of research and teach with great inspiration. For a general course the faculty to student ratio is 1:20. Despite that the faculties here are very accessible and humble and treat students with respect and patience.
