Course Curriculum Overview :
My course name is B.Tech in Civil Engineering + M.Tech in Geotechnical Engineering. It is a dual-degree course. I have opted for this course because my rank in JEE Advanced 2023 was 13801 and the best course I was getting at that rank was this. It also allows me to do M. Tech from IIT which is very important for core engineers. In the first year topics related to each branch are taught along with common subjects like Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. From the second year topics related to specific course you have opted for are taught. Our course structure is very good but it would be better if, in place of Ed's short form of engineering drawing, we civil engineers are taught programmes like CAD, CAM and MATLAB. For B. Tech students there are 8 semesters and for Dual degree students there are 10 semesters. There are Two exams one mid-semester and another end-semester which take place per semester along with quizzes and lab exams. The papers are very difficult and one has to study hard to get good marks on exams
Internships Opportunities :
I do not know much about internship because I am a first year student and here internship are provided from 2nd year. We get many internship opportunities from different companies like Google, Warner Bros, Microsoft, Accenture etc. Most of the companies are start up companies.
Placement Experience :
The 4 years B. Tech students becomes eligible from 7th semester for campus placement and dual degree students becomes elgible for campus placement from 9th semester. There are many companies that came to campus belonging to different fields like Tech, Core, Finances and management. Some of these companies are Google, Accenture, Qualcomm,Flipkart Honda, ONGC, DRDO, ISRO, BHEL, Indian Oil, L&T, etc. Number of offers vary from year to year. The average package in this time of recession is still greater than 20 LPA and around 65 % of student is placed in 24.In 22 and 23 it was around 90%.My plan is to take a job after getting my degree
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The course fee is 1,83,000 persem for normal students but scholarship are provided on tution fee on the basis of economic status of the student like for General and OBC whose annual income is less than 5 lakh 66% discount on tution fees is given. For SC, ST students and those other students whose annual income is less than 1 lakh, the whole tution fee is off. Along with other scholarships like NSP and merit com scholarship are also given. Stipend amount is 15000 for B. Tech and M. Tech student and 40000 for PH. D students
Campus Life :
There are 3 types of annual fests conducted in college which is Infinito(our sports fest), celesta(our tech fest) and anwesha(our cultural fest). Apart from these we have Nebula(fests for freshers). Also each branch and clubs organises their respective annual fest. Infinito take place in September, Celesta in November and Anwesha in February. All other fests take place on the basis of campus condition. Books are very much accessible. We have libraries from where we can issue a book for 75 days and later if we don't return 5 rupees per book per day is charged. We have classroom with AC and sensors light. Both smart board and blackboard are present in classroom. Also in each bench a charging point is given for your phone to charge. I am not satisfied with its sports facilities and I think it should be improved. There are many clubs like NJack for coding, Robocon for robotics, QTC for quantum technology, Yavnika for drama and singing, TIC for trade and finance and many more.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostel of IIT Patna are very good if we compare to hostels of other colleges and many IIT. They are new and provided with up to date facilities. For first year student there is 3 student per room which reduces to 2 students per room in second year and 1 students per room from 3rd year. There are separate hostels for girls students, B. Tech students indifferent years, M. Tech students and P. HD students. Each hostel is provided with separate mess. Meal quality of mess is good and we can even change it with the help of mess seceratory. There is separate counter for veg and non veg student in ech mess.
Admission :
To be eligible to enter IIT Patna one has to qualify for JEE Advanced. After that, you can get IITs along with branches on the basis of your rank and your choice filling. In this process, reservation is given to OBC, SC, ST and General EWS. My course is not much difficult and I enjoy my course
Faculty :
Faculty of IIT Patna are highly qualified. All have done their Ph.D from reputated foreign universities like MIT, Harvard, Boston, Pennsylvania, etc. Most of them are also IITians and have done B. Tech from 1st generation IIT. The faculty student ratio is 1:30 which is a good ratio. Most of the teachers teach very well and with their unique teaching style they are able to generate interest in their particular subjects. They always encourage us to make effort in the field of research and innovation and provide best supports. They also helps in cracking internship and job opportunities
