- IIT KGP is no doubt an brilliant college , things like its peer group make it even more better. Peer group plays an important role in personal development of an student.
- I was strongly involved in sports activities in campus throughout the year. And i interact with numerous people through events and while playing and i felt that people in IIT are quit studies except some students.
Dislikes
- All the staff is almost Bengali due to domination good faculties are teaching great minds , teaching can be made more interesting things are that worse some times that faculty don't understand their own slides.
- Teachers don't teach us they just come read slides and go. Almost no interactions with students. Every year placements getting worse and decreasing per year .
Course Curriculum Overview :
Since am belong to agriculture background and also i wnt to come in top 7 IIT's so i decided to join this course. My department course is quit relevent for me in future but it need to be updated along with advancement in technology. Learning should be more practical where we thought of using AI for agriculture and food making. Exams are moderate consists of class test , mid semester and end semester exams. their will be 2 classs test in each semester per subject.
Internships Opportunities :
Companies like zomato , swiggy , nestle , britania , etc provide internship in fields like product management , food engineer supervision , testing , research , etc. with stipend based on capabilities of candidate.
Placement Experience :
Students are eligible to sit in campus placement in their final year. Companies like nestle , britania , etc. Highest package was 33 lakh , average package was 17.96 and 68.75 % students got placed in 2023.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Fees include 1 lakh tution fees , 12000 of various subscrition provided by institute and around 40000 hostel and mess charges. In one year institute demands 3 lakh money and around 1 lakh is my other personal expenses. Institute provide various scholarships based on financial background and academic performance. Also we have various loan options at lower interest rates. Merit cum mean scholarship gives monthly 1000 and chanderlekha scholarship gives 50000 annualy. Campus offers TA job for MTech students with stipends.
Campus Life :
KSHITIJ - the tech fest organised in third week of january and SPRING FEST- the cultural fest organised in fourth week of january. All books, journals , newspapers , magazines are available in centeal library with good quantity and student can issue any book for certain period of time. Classrooms have marvellous architecture and have AC. LABs have all the facilities and equipment. KGP offers various sports facilities within the campus and regular sports events are also held like shaurya , maitrya , INTER IIT , OPEN IIT , etc. Their are various clubs and societies run by students and they help students to learn professional life.
Hostel Facilities :
We are provide with water coolers , 1 study desk , 1 chair , 1 bed ,1 almirah , wifi and LAN connectivity to room. Mess food is completly messed up food quality and hygeine is not that good. Hostels are bit expensive and registration happens at your first visit to hall which are randomly alloted to you.
Admission :
To enroll in agriculture BTech course you must be JEE Qualified and rank under [Gen-10280(M) , 16450(F)] , [OBC - 4140(M), 6804(F)] , [EWS-1676(M) , 3478(F)] , [SC- 2509(M) , 2903(F)] , [ST - 1237(M) , 1644(F)] as per last year. After JEE advanced result quallified candidates must participate in JOSSA counselling. Caste reservation is provided to lower castes . JEE advanced is conducted once in an year.
Faculty :
Almost all the faculties had PhD in their respective fields. They had knowledge but you will feel them boring because they just read slides and focud on course completion. Ratio is 1: 20 , faculties are enough but they are somewhere bengali biased. I approach teachers for doubts only and it is easy to intract with them , they help as well.
