Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is in accordance with the latest guidelines of the central government. The curriculum is designed in such a way that it provides overall development of a student. The course syllabus is not limited to a particular field only it provides knowledge of various other fields as well. Thus it prepares the student for real life world. There are smart boards as well as black and white boards. It depends upon the faculty how he/she wants to teach. All the options are available such as presentations and slides or the old method of boards and chalks. There are regular examination of every semester including the mid semester examinations and the end semester examination. There are practical exams also which ensure the real life experience and learnings of how things actually work.

Internships Opportunities :

Internship opportunities are given to the students from the 6th semester. Many companies visit the campus to offer students internship roles. Many IT companies visit the campus for the role of software development engineer. Many other companies such as TATA also visits the campus for the core branches. Students show there projects in there particular domain which they have created in that course of time. The companies select the students that they think are capable and can be an asset for them. All the on campus internship opportunities are paid. Students are definitely paid for the work that they do. But the number of internship opportunities is quite less as compared to the number of students. Only 10-15 percent of the boy candidates get those on campus internship opportunities. There are more opportunities for internship and placement for a female candidate.

Placement Experience :

NIT jamshedpur provides one of the best on-campus placements. The average package is abover 10 lakhs every year and the placement percentage is also very good. I'm from the electronics and communication engineering department where the average package was 22.5 lakhs this year with 100 percent placement. The students are eligible for the placements from the 7th semester. Many companies visit the college for various tech roles and non tech roles. The number of offers made is much greater than the number of students. Thus there is more than enough opportunity to everyone to grab an on campus placement. The highest package this year was 84 lakhs per annum which was given by a company known as ATLASSIAN. In the top branches such as Computer science, electronics, electrical around 100 percent placement is there. In the core branches also the placement percentage is around 95 percent with a very decent package as compared to any other NITs or IITs.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The overall fees including the tution fees + mess fees + hostel fees is around 1 lakh for every semester. To be more precise it is exactly 2 lakh 10 thousand for a complete year. All kinds of fees are included in this. No extra charge is there. Since it is a government college there are various benefits for the students with financially weak background. For a student whose annual income is less than 1 lakh. Tution fee is zero for him. He only has to pay for the mess and the hostel. The complete fee is only 42 thousand for him in one semester. More precisely 84 thousand for a complete year. For someone whose family income is between 1-5 lakh. The complete yearly fee is around 1 lakh 25 thousand. Moreover for the reserved class like sc st pwd complete fee remission is there. They only have to pay for the mess and hostel. Banks are also present in the campus to give education loan to the students. Moreover there are a lot of scholarship schemes that are provided to the needy.

Campus Life :

Campus life is very good with greenery all around the campus. There are different clubs and society for different skills. There is a dancing club known as the beatbreakers. There is a singing club known as the Rooh. A quizzing club known as the qnite. Many more clubs and society are there. Many technical society and clubs are also there. Annual fest like Culfest is organised every year where a lot of celebrities perform for the students. In the last two year i saw Shirley setia, sachin-jigar, trap band and many more. There is a technical fest Ojass which is one of the largest technical fest of India. The campus life is very engaging and very amazing. A lot of opportunities are there for someone who is interested. The college has a huge library which has many many books for every interest of field. The library has a full wifi coverage and many computers are also installed there for someone who is willing to work on the computer.

Hostel Facilities :

NIT jamshedpur provides one of the best hostel facilities as compared to any other colleges or university. Every Btech student gets a single room for himself from the second year itself. Only in the first year the students has to share the room with a room partner. After the first year everyone gets a room of his own with proper internet connection. The hostel facility provides the student with the mindset to do his best in his life. Proper internet connection is there in each and every hostel. Water is available in the hostel 24X7. Regular cleaning of the hostel is done by the staff. Every morning you will see that the hostel is being cleaned and the bathroom is being maintained properly. The quality of food is not very great but still it is good as compared to other colleges dirty food and mess. They don't charge very high for the mess food. There are different options for the vegetarian people and the non vegetarian people. The hostel is allotted during the admission process only.

Admission :

Admission process was quite smooth. The admissions are done on the basis of the JEE entrance exam. You have to score a very decent percentile in the JEE MAINS to ensure a seat in any NIT. I scored 98 percentile to get in the ECE department of NIT jamshedpur. Since it is an government college there are a lot of benefits for the reserved class. The reserved class can get admission at a low percentile as compared to the unreserved. Some seats are also reserved for the female candidates. The JEE MAINS is conducted twice a year. Any student who has prepared honestly for the exam will definitely clear the exam. Once you have scored a decent rank the admission process is quite smooth with most of the things processed online.

After the completion of 3 rd years, students are eligible for placement. About 10 companies came when I was there and they don't have soo many offers. The highest package of 10 lakh waa given to our best student in computer science the average package was 5-6 lakh that's the average package of most colleges here it is the same. The placements of students were quite average about 70 % cause most of the students get diverted. I planned to go in some other field apart from engineering.
