My branch is electronics and communication engineering.I selected this branch because from class 12 th I have a interest in semiconductor industry whose relevance is increasing day by day like all the chips are made up of semiconductor application. In our college there are labs for the respective field where one can do all the projects.

The curriculum is quite hard as we have two exams one is midsem and the other is end sems .in the end sems we get holidays to preparebur in the midsems we hardly get any time to prepare the midsems are of 30 marks and endems are of 50 marks and 20 marks are for teachers evaluation

The course curriculum is in accordance with the latest guidelines of the central government. The curriculum is designed in such a way that it provides overall development of a student. The course syllabus is not limited to a particular field only it provides knowledge of various other fields as well. Thus it prepares the student for real life world. There are smart boards as well as black and white boards. It depends upon the faculty how he/she wants to teach. All the options are available such as presentations and slides or the old method of boards and chalks. There are regular examination of every semester including the mid semester examinations and the end semester examination. There are practical exams also which ensure the real life experience and learnings of how things actually work.

Curriculum is quiet good for every students' interest. It follows the good placements in Final year. But it is better to teach coding language in 2nd year in other branches also beside cse. Exams are somewhat difficult but ok

I was always interested in robotics and electronics is why I chose this course. My hometown is Jamshedpur which is also a benefit to me. The curriculum is like any other university and the professors teach fine. Every 2 months there are exams. Mid semester exam and End semester exam. There are a total of 8 semesters, 4-5 months each. We also have a smart screen and projector in each class for smart teaching. The toughness level of exams is high.

The curriculum in NIT Jamshedpur is very hectic because throughout the course there is a large number of assignment as well as practical files the teacher are good and a knowledgeable in the technical field but there is a huge amount of workload which is applied on the students . During one semester we have two exams which is mid semester and and same which are of moderate to high difficulty level.
I choose electronics engineering because I m interested in semiconductor devices and I want to work on it .One reason is also that in my rank ,I have not any iit college. All the faculty in my college are very nice and they teach very well

The main reason behind choosing the ECE branch is my interest about this domain.See here faculty to student ratio is quite impressive. Most of the faculty members are well qualified like they mostly complete their PhD from IIT / NIT..In NIT jamshedpur Mid sem exams are held after 2 months of starting date of semester which is of 30 marks and end sem are held after 4 months starting date of semester which is of 50 marks..

I chose Electronics and Communications Engineering because of the vast interest that I have in electronics and looking at the optimistic future of the semiconductor industry in India. Faculty to student ratio is good. All the faculty are good but some are just sluggish and annoying. It's hard to focus because of the lack of energy or just a lack of outside-of-the-book things within them. The worst part is the labs which are poorly run by boring people who are also mostly rigid academic type of staff. The Exams in the first year are every 4 months with the midsem exam after the second month and for endsem exam, you only get one month which is quite hard to prepare in such a time frame.
If you are concerned about the brand then definitely go for IIIT Allahabad. But, if you are clear with your choice of stream you can choose either of them. If you choose NIT Jamshedpur CSE it’s good and so is the same with IIIT Allahabad.
I can share one of my cousin’s experiences, who passed out from NIT Jamshedpur.
Let me make it more clearly for you by categorizing engineering colleges:
Tier - 1 |
IIT B,K,KGP,D,M,R, BHU, HYD,BITS Pilani-Pilani campus,IIIT HYD, IIIT Allahabad, NIT K,W,T, DTU, NSIT, ISM(Dhanbad) |
Tier - 2 |
New IITs like Mandi, Gandhinagar, Patna, DAIICT, BITS HYD, BITS GOA, BIT Mesra, IIIT Bangalore, IIITM Gwalior, NITs - Calicut, Nagpur, Rourkela, Kurukshetra, Allahabad, Bhopal, Jaipur, Durgapur, Jamshedpur, Jadavpur University, IIIT Delhi, LNMIIT, Thapar university. |
Tier - 3 |
Rest of the NITs |
Tier - 4 |
Lower Level State Government Colleges. |
Tier - 5 |
Amity, LPU, ITM, Manipal, SRM Main, GLA-Mathura, Galgotia, BML, SRMS, VIT, JNTU , BMS Bangalore , RV Bangalore and other private engineering colleges and other IIITs Like Vadodara etc and other top state government colleges. |
This categorization might help you to decide. Also, skills do not depend on the branding of the building. It is something you learn eventually. Moreover, choose a college which has easy access to transport, shops, etc.
Also, if you see around there is infinite demand for highly skilled electronics engineers with impressive TopCOder and GitHub profiles. So, choosing either of the colleges won’t be a loss. But, if you have a specific interest in a particular stream like ECE in IIIT Allahabad or NIT Jamshedpur will prove a good choice too.
NIT Jamshedpur for CSE and NIT Calicut for ECE both have good placements. It depends on you which branch you are interested in.
One of my friends is studying at NIT Jamshedpur so I will give you insight into the institute’s branch.
In the following table, you will get basic information about NIT Jamshedpur, CSE and NIT Calicut, ECE programs.
Category | NIT Jamshedpur CSE | NIT Calicut ECE |
Fees | INR 1.03 Lakh (1st Year) | INR 1.37 Lakh |
Duration | 4 years | 4 years |
Recruiters | Jaro Education, Byju’s, MatrixCare, HexaView, etc. | Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, Google, Amazon, etc. |
Average CTC | INR 15 LPA | INR. 11 LPA |
Highest CTC | INR 37.5 LPA | INR. 38 LPA |
Therefore, CSE from NIT Jamshedpur and ECE from NIT Calicut both are good with good placement statistics. It depends on you which branch of study you are interested in and want to pursue your career in.
