Course Curriculum Overview :
One of the big reasons to choose iit Madras was flexible curriculum. You can pursue whatever you want despite of your branch. One has to complete certain courses in department and then he is free to choose whatever he want to study. But speaking from the reputation of course I will say it's the best atleast in India. One year has 2 semesters jan-may and july-dec. Exam frequency depends on the professor taking the course but generally it is 2 quizzes (each 20% weightage), assignments(20%), end-semester exam(40%).
Internships Opportunities :
I haven't yet started applied for internships but ther ware good amount of companies that come to campus to offer internships. 50-60% of the batch gets the internships. Intership stipend goes as high as 13 lakhs rs/month .
Placement Experience :
After 6th semester students are eligible for campus placement.you can look up at the official placement reports for exact numbers but mostly 80-90% of the batch gets placed. Highest package is 3.67crores and average is at 22lakhs per annum.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
If your family income is below 100000 you don't have to pay any tution fee. If you family income is between 100000 and 4.5 lakhs you have to pay 33000 fee. If family income greater than 4.5lakh then you have to pay 1 lakh tution fee. The fee above mentioned is per semester. There are various scholarships available but again you don't need them if you have low family income as your tution fee is anyway waived. There are few campus works you can take after 2nd year such as research fellow, Teaching assistant work, etc. You will be paid around 12000 per month for TAship and research fellowships l.
