My experience at IIT Gandhinagar.

Dislikes

  • The placements here at IIT Gandhinagar are very less compared to other IITs.
  • I don't like some of the compulsory courses which are offered at the institutes, which include history and social science courses.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum here at IIT Gandhinagar is very flexible and you can opt for any courses. It doesn't matter which branch you are in you can just walk into any class. professors are more than willing to allow you into classes and they will encourage you to explore all the concepts which are going to be taught in the class. The curriculum is also designed to encourage you in multi-disciplinary activities and overall development.

Internships Opportunities :

The college mainly focuses on research opportunities. The many students who go abroad pursuing research interests. Almost everybody in their 3rd year go for a Summer internship both abroad and in India. The colleges abroad include caltech, MIT and Stanford. When coming to internships in companies, most of them include stipend. I am not particularly sure about the name of the companies.

Placement Experience :

From the starting of 3rd year students are eligible to apply for campus internships and placements. The percentage of placement is around 80 to 90% in the last academic year. Some of the companies that visited the campus in the last academic year include Texas Instruments and Nvidia. I am planning to pursue MBA after completing my b.tech in IIT Gandhinagar.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The overall fee includes tuition, hostel and Mess fee. Other basic facilities are also available including laundry and air conditioning. The complete cost of education will be around 12 lakhs. There are many scholarships and financial aids available for the people who are belonging to lower financial groups, which includusion tuition fee waiver and basic missing facilities for scheduled Tribes and scheduled castes. There also many on campus employment activities going on and you can also apply for those and you will get paid for those activities like teaching to students, content creation for IIT Gandhinagar social media handles.

Campus Life :

As most of you already know about the cultural at IITs, IIT Gandhinagar no different from them. There are many facilities are available including the sports facilities the library and many labs which include top notch technology and extra curricular activities are also encouraged here. There are many student run organising such ensure proper functioning of institute at the student end.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel facility at IIT Gandhinagar is far more better than many IITs and many engineering colleges in India. The hostels are equipped with air conditioning and the mess food is 5 star rated by fssai India. In the first year the room allocation is random and in the upcoming years you can choose your roommates and room based on your preferences. The registration process for hostel is very streamline and you don't have to take any stress about that.

Admission :

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) oversees the admission process for Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) along with other centrally-funded technical institutions in India. JoSAA was established to simplify the admission procedure for candidates seeking admission to undergraduate engineering programs. The admission process through JoSAA typically begins with the declaration of JEE Main and JEE Advanced results. Candidates who clear the JEE Advanced exam are eligible for admission to IITs. Once the results are announced, JoSAA conducts a centralized online counseling process where candidates are required to register and fill in their choices of institutes and courses based on their ranks and preferences.

As of last year, most of the students who applied for campus placement got placed but with an average ctc of rs 5 lakh/annum. The companies visited include Adani Port, Adani gas, Torrent Power, and other companies. The highest package was rs 15 lakh.
