- The campus infra is too good. The greenary here also gains our attention.
- The alumini and friends network that is formed here is soo strong.
Dislikes
- The food that we are provided in our mess.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The first year is common to all. So all the students study together irrespective of department. First year course include various courses that cover almost intro to each and every department. This is best way to introduce all the courses to students as some IITs provide option for department change after ending of 1st year so one can choose his/her best fit department. But the course curriculum is not changed since 50 years for example on course of computer science nowadays should be taught in c++ but here it is taught in c language. The exams are conducted twice a sem once in mid sem and second at the ending of the sem.
Placement Experience :
As I am first year ofcourse I am not offered any placements but the placement rates here are high I can more than 90% which include big companies like Microsoft, google, goldman sachs, bajaj , tata,etc tech companies and also core companies come to IIT campuses but not more frequently as Tech companies. Here all are given opportunities to sit in placement drive for these companies(if companies are not branch specific) be he/she from civil, ocean engineering , biotech,etc. About 85-90% of minimum students get oncampus placements. In terms of package average is about 16LPA considering all the branches and the highest package can go up to 3 Crores(but only one or two get that much amount!!) . Most people get around 25LPA.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Those who have family income more than 6LPA and are in general category are not eligible for any scholarship. There are scholarships for other category students and also fee waivers up to 100% reduction in tuition fee(not in hostel fees). For general category student per year about 3 LPA fees is taken.
Campus Life :
Campus life is best at IIT Kharagpur in terms of greenary , and infrastructure as it the biggest IIT in India. Though the campus infra is some what old but recently IIT is making new buildings and also renovating old ones. Cultural,Techno fest are conducted every year by students of the college and big actors singers also come to our campus. Sundar pichai was also invited to IIT Kharagpur for the Entrepreneurship summit. The classrooms are well air-conditioned noise proof. Almost all extra activities are promoted here Hockey Football, TT, cricket, singing, guitar, piano etc etc. Also IIT KGP has the best club culture and there are more than 80 clubs covering almost all the sectors.
Hostel Facilities :
There are 21 hostels here . The infra structure is too go though none of them provide tasty food. But all hostels have inbuilt music rooms , gym, sports ground halls for conducting various events. The mess charges for sem is about 15000 and maintenance fees about 5000 rest living fees are about 15000 for a sem
Admission :
It would be best if you give JEE Advanced to get into IIT application process is based only on the JEE Advanced score. ALl the details for admission is available on IIT JEE Advanced website. After the result is declared you need to start admission process where you have to make your IIT preferences and there degrees too priority wise . You would be given some deadline to do so. Then according to merit you will be given the best preference available for you and you will be asked to pay around 40000 as seat acceptance fees. After this payment when you go to college you will have to pay only rest of the amount for that semester.
