- Hostel Facilities are really good compared to OLD IITs and even top NITs. I really liked this factor. Like hygiene is maintained everywhere in the campus
- I like the cleanliness maintained in the campus. Like all the surroundings are really garbage free and regularly cleaned.
Dislikes
- The food provided in the mess is not really good but it is not so bad either
- Some hostel blocks are really far away from academic blocks which makes it irritating to go to classes somedays when its raining etc.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Curriculum is not bad here. It's kinda updated. And every branch students get to learn basic coding. Academic system is slightly different at IITH compared to other colleges. Chemical Engineering is good at IITH. Like in all the IITs, IITH has one of the best chemical engineering branch. The cutoff was slightly below mechanical so it's easier to get chemical at IITH compared to chemical and electrical. each semester here is divided into 3 segments. We have courses for each segment and exams are generally held at the end of each segment. We get grading based on these exams quizzes conducted by professor and some professors give marks for attendance also.
Internships Opportunities :
We are constantly informed about internship opportunities here through email.Many tech giants like microsoft, IBM, wipro provide internships here. Mostly projects were given and people gained lot of experince due to this. Some students even got a stiphend of 1 lakh per month. So I think internships are awesome here.
Placement Experience :
Placements are one of the reason I choose IITH over other branches in old IITs. Like the average package of chemical engineering is 19 lakhs per annum which is great. The highest package in chemical engineering was nearly 50 lakhs per annum this year. You can easily get into IT jobs here irrespective of your branch if you learn important concepts. You may even get an internship in 3rd year itself if we are good with our skills. IITH has improved a lot in 10 years in terms of placements. I hope it soon competes with old IITs. The overall average package is around 21,00,000 per annum this year.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Fee is taken before the start of every semester here. When I joined, the fee of first semester was 1.6 lakhs including hostel fee. And in second sem, we paid nearly 1.45 lakhs. In this the tuition fee is 1,00,000 per semester and the rest is hostel fee, student funds etc. So the total fee per year adds upto 3,00,000 nearly. Fee remission is provided here based on Income tax returns. Many scholarship options are provided which are given based on different aspects. They are even providing interest free educational loan if we meet the requirements. You can even work in clubs or as a TA to get stiphend.
Campus Life :
There aren't many fests here. But the clubs here organise events which are pretty good. Like a club names ECELL organised an event named Esummit which mainly focuses on entrepreneurship ideas and stuff. We have Elan & nVision, which is our annual fest held in march. Other thsn these we have sports meets like there is MILAN which is an inter hostel sports meet and there is DIESTA which is an inter branch sports meet. These are wuwite good. When we talk about social life, I can't say IITH is best but it's quite good here.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostels are alloted to us on the day of reporting to college itself. Hostel facilities are quite good. Mess food is not bad here. Hostel fee nearly sums upto Rs.1,00,000 per year nearly. We can buy some extra items in mess other than the menu. Menu is designed on such a way that the foods of many regions are provided. Quality of food and cleanliness of mess is maintained neatly. You will like mess food here if you don't regularly eat in rastaurants.
Admission :
The admission criteria is different for different categories of people given in JEE Advanced. For OBC category first we need to achieve around 74 percentile to qualify for JEE Advanced. Again in JEE advnaced my branch closed at an OBC rank of 2976 in gender neutral. NTA releases the form for jee mains in around january or december every year generally. And JEE Advanced application form opens after 2 sessions of mains are over. generally 2 sessions of mains have a gap of 40 days and advanced is held around 50 days after the second mains. Syllabus is MPC based. After you get your rank, u need to attend JOSAA couselling and provide choices
