Course Curriculum Overview :
NIT Durgapur offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in disciplines spanning engineering, science, architecture and management. The institute has 14 departments with about 224 faculty members and more than 4,000 enrolled students.
Internships Opportunities :
NIT Durgapur provides various internship opportunities for its students. The Training and Placement Cell plays a crucial role in facilitating internships by collaborating with companies and industries. Students often secure internships in diverse fields such as engineering, technology, research, finance, and more. The institute may also have tie-ups with reputed organizations to offer internship programs. It's advisable for students to actively engage with the placement cell, attend career fairs, and leverage networking opportunities to explore and secure internships that align with their career goals.CERN, Geneva : This is the most prestigious one. As many as 30 students of all the branches are shortlisted on the basis of their CGPA for Personal Interview. From there, 4 students are selected for summer internship at CERN. DAAD: I wont keep it as a fixed inetrnship opportunity, but, many students go abroad for internship through DAAD. Microsoft: For CSE students.
Placement Experience :
The students have acquired the highest packages of about Rs 44 LPA. The average package a student gets after completing a course from this Institute is Rs 13 LPA.NIT Durgapur has a Career Development Centre that guides the students through the process of placements. NIT Durgapur’s placement drives are conducted every year for the final year students. National Institute of Technology (NIT) Durgapur placement drives are organised for the students who are there in the seventh semester or are at the beginning of the final year. The interested companies have to fill up the Job Announcement Form (JAF) and then submit the necessary details to the NIT Durgapur placement cell. The visiting companies also conduct pre-placement talks before the final round of interview. After the interviews, the list of shortlisted candidates is released.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The semester tuition fee is as per MHRD regulation i.e. Rs. 62500 per semester. If your family income is more than 5 lakh you have to give all of the above amount, if between 1 lakh - 5 lakh, you'll have to pay 1/3rd of the said amount and if less than 1 lakh no amout is to be paid.the college provides many different types of scholarships for both undergraduate and post graduate scholarships. They are both merit based and income based. For lower income group students , Full Student free ship and Half Student Free ship are the most popular ones. Other than that there are many State Govt. and Central Government scholarships.
Campus Life :
The annual Techno-management festival of National Institute of Technology Durgapur, Aarohan is usually held in the month of February every year. It comprises various events like competitions, exhibits, workshops and talks from guest speakers.Life at NIT Durgapur is dynamic and engaging. Hostel Facilities :
The college and hostel are separate, and the infrastructure is average but you will have air-conditioned classes. The faculty is good. The hostel food is not great, and everyone cannot be habituated to the food. NIT Durgapur provides hostel facilities for both male and female students. The hostels are well-equipped with essential amenities like mess facilities, Wi-Fi, recreational areas, and common rooms. Living in the hostels fosters a sense of community among students and offers a conducive environment for academic and personal growth
Admission :
The admission process at NIT Durgapur typically involves candidates applying through national-level entrance exams like JEE Main for undergraduate courses or GATE for postgraduate programs. After qualifying, candidates go through centralized counseling processes, such as JoSAA (for undergrad) or CCMT (for postgrad), where they can choose NIT Durgapur based on their ranks and seat availability. The candidates can avail reservation chances who belongs to GEN, OBC , SC , ST.
