Remarks :
Overall NIT Durgapur is a very good college. If you come to learn and to build your carrier then NIT Durgapur will provide you lots of opportunities. According to me i dont think their is any negative points in NIT DURGAPUR.
Course Curriculum Overview :
course include 6 semesters. 5 subjects in each semester except last semester which include only project work. Each subject has their own weightage or credits. Exam pattern consist of Assignments, Practicals, Viva and written examination.
Placement Experience :
Overall placement status are very good. The problem is the eligibility of the students that they are eligible to seat on placement exam for particular company or not. Every company come to recruit have their own critera i.e 10th marks, 12th marks, graduation marks etc. if your are eligible and managed to seat on 4-5 companies then definitely get placed in your dream company. some companies which visit NIT Durgapur for MCA for placements are AMAZON, HACKERS RANK, TCS, SAMSUNG, INFOSYS, IBM and lots more. The placement percentage is 70-90% for MCA.
College Events :
Their are several events organised in the college. some of them are FRESHERS PARTY, FAREWELL PARTY, Programmes on TEACHERS DAY and CHILDRENS DAY. some technical events are also organised i.e AROHAN in which you can participate for hacking, painting, playing online games, coading etc. A annual event is also organised in which bollywood celebrity and foreign celebrity came to our campus, its 3 days events.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
At the time of my admission the fee structure are feasible i.e Rs 20,000 per semester but after 2 years fee structure modified to Rs 45000 per semester. Their is no extra fees and every thing is included in the semester fee. but for Hostel facility charges are extra.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
You can approach any bank for loan facility. As NIT is a very good college and the placement status are also very good so your bank will approve your quickly. Apart from your home branch you can also approach SBI bank inside campus for loan facility.Scholarship are also available in college for students belonging to economically weaker section.apart from college scholarship you can also apply for scholarship given by you State.
Campus Life :
We have 2 sports ground in the campus. MCA PREMIER LEAGUE ( cricket) are conducted specially for MCA students. College are organise annual sports tournaments including football, cricket, athletic, badminton, table tennis, vollyball etc. Zym facility are also their for students inside campus. Their are 2 labs for MCA having approx 50 computers in each.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostel facility was not available for MCA students at that time. but according to me you will get very good facilities if you opt for hostel. I personally visited Hostel and Their are 2 and 3 sharing rooms with bed,fan,almirah etc. Room are quite big for 3 persons. Foods are also very good.
Alumni/Alumna :
Alumni network are very strong in NIT DURGAPUR. Alumni meet are organised every year in the college to their experiences in IT companies to the current students. You can easily find facebook pages for the same and its quit helpful if you keep contact with alumni's.
Admission :
First you need to qualify for National Level Entrance exam called N.I.M.C.E.T. you can apply for NIMCET online through the official website. Once you appeared for exam, you can login and check the status of your application. You can also see if you are selected to preferred college or not. If selected you need to go for counselling for document verification and to submit required admission fee.
Faculty :
Faculties are very experienced, professional and supporting. They focus on practical works which now a days are very important. Each Lecture and practical classes will be of 2 hours and taken by the experienced professors. In every classes you will get some practical stuffs to do and you need to submit it by email to the related professor.
