Brief review of IIT KHARAGPUR

Dislikes

  • Still there are few teachers you will find like they are literally not interested to teach you.

Course Curriculum Overview :

This course is helpful for both PhD and placement. Faculty: students ratio is more than satisfying. Around 45 faculty is available there. Qualification of most of the faculty is post doctoral. Their teaching methods varies teacher to teacher. But overall it is good One has 4 months to clear one semester. Within 4 months you have mid-sem and end-sem both. It's moderate to pass the exam.

Internships Opportunities :

Since I'm a 1st year student, I don't have that much clarity about internship. But I have heard that various companies like Google, Microsoft, TCS, Wipro they come to the campus to provide internship to the students.

Placement Experience :

In my course, one is eligible to sit for placement from 3rd semester. Mostly all the reputated companies visits. Like Google, Amazon, Accenture, Microsoft, Uber, Flipkart etc and last year around 1100 offers were made. Highest package - 2.5 cr/yr Avarage package - 25 lakh/yr Around 75 percent students get placed. My plan is to go for campus placement.

Fees and Financial Aid :

Fees are most in the 1st sem. Then it decreases. Yes there are opportunities for scholarship and internships from the campus. One has to seek for it to the office. If one is really interested for placement from the campus then he/she must get it.

Campus Life :

Annual fest- Spring Fest (in the month of January) Tech fest - Kshitij (in the month of November) IIT Kharagpur has a huge Library. All types of books and journals are available there. Classrooms have charging ports, wifi connection and also AC connected. IIT Kharagpur has two huge grounds ( one is TSC and another is Janan Ghosh stadium ). And there is Gymkhana. All types of sports you can play in the campus. There are lot of societies run by students, like Dramatic society, music society, coding society.

Hostel Facilities :

Currently I'm staying in SBP Hall. Single room with AC connection and also with almirah. The menu is diverse, and sufficient for different type of studen across the country but meal quality is not so good. Hostel is compulsary in IIT Kharagpur.

Admission :

Eligibility was B.Sc honours Application form will be found in JAM website. Application fees is 1800(for general male candidate), 900(for female and SC,ST candidates). Application data varies each year. It's on the month of September. Yes there are reservation for OBC, SC, ST candidates. Nil

Placement Experience:

The campus placement of our university is quite good and it is getting better day by day. Especially our chemistry department is doing great in this field. Last year our dept almost hit 100% placements and the highest package was of 5 lpa. I am planning to peruse my PhD after MSc.

Course Curriculum Overview:

If the student is quite serious to go for a PHD after completing his MSc from here, I would say it is a great choice but if one is looking for the option to explore some other field after completing his MSc from here, I wouldn't recommend of getting a degree from here.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The syllabus structure of KU is totally based on the IIT JAM exam syllabus. That helps students very much in future preparation for Ph.D. Also KU offers special classes for competitive exam preparations including SPSC or UPSC as well as helps to get placements in the private sector. And professors are very highly qualified they can teach this syllabus in depth and with care

Course Curriculum Overview:

I took admission in this college in neuroscience with an aspiration to do something in this field as my father suffered from brain stroke 2 times. The curriculum is quite vast and regardless of the fact that a sem should take place after every 6 months this institute wrap up the syllabus in 3 months and expect us to do well.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The program curriculum encompasses Biological Sciences as well as it could have been. It is very elaborate comprising every branches from Instrumemtation and Methodologies to Cell Biology, Genetics or Molecular Biology for that matter. You are ought to have three theory papers and two practical and Grand VIVA papers each semester with a total of 4 semesters over two years. In the last semester, you need to prepare your dissertation. The papers include all the basic concepts and their applications and demands hard hours. I believe the syllabus can be relaxed a bit and the number of papers per term expanded and compartmentalised so as to reduce the load of individual papers. All the faculties are very supportive and Friendly and appreciate doubts and queries always.

Admission:

The admission procedure not so simple. It was quite tough. The students got admission in the course only when they cleared West Bengal Post Graduate Applied Nutrition Admission Test [WBPGANAT]. The eligibility criteria was B.Sc or B.Sc (honors) in food and nutrition/dietetics/ food technology with minimum 50%.

Placement Experience:

The college provided placements for each and every students. Most of the students got the placement through the college campus. There were many job opportunities for the courses. About 90% of the students got placement from my batch. Yes, the college also offered internships for the students.

Remarks:

College management- It need more outlook developing. They require more focus on students and their future in careers. R&D is necessary, but job is also essential for some students also. Equal emphasis should be place don both the aspects.
