Course Curriculum Overview :
I choose CSE because I was interested in Artificial intelligence. Rather than choosing the AI department in some colleges, I choose CSE at IIT Madras because it covers all aspects of computer science. The faculty-student ratio is good you would have a prof for every 60 students in a class. The teachers are highly qualified but there are some stupid teachers with stupid grading. You can easily pass the exam even if you study the night before.
Internships Opportunities :
The college provides an internship website through which you can apply to top-shot companies like gold man Sachs, Google, and Microsoft and they provide you with a pretty decent amount of striped if you are talented enough. You need to perform well in the tests and have a good cgpa.
Placement Experience :
IIT Madras has one of the best placements stats in the country. It's ranked NIRF 1. Students become eligible for placements from the 7th semester and for internships around the 5th semester. In cse department, the average placement package is around 30 lpa. Last year a student got around 1.5 crore from a quant company. A lot of big companies come here.
Fees and Financial Aid :
Considering other private colleges fees in IIT Madras are relatively lower. If you are from the general category it's 1lakh for tuition fees and around 37k for hostel feel per sem. If you have ews or reservations like SC, etc you will have a huge concession in the fees. There are many scholarships offered from the campus itself but to avail that your family income must be below 8 lakh.
Campus Life :
The annual cultural fest is saarang it's around in the month of January and it's one of the largest in the country. Shasstra is the tech fest conducted after Sarrang in a month. It's also one of the biggest exhibitions of tech. There are many clubs on the campus. You can find a club for each and every interest. CFI is the biggest student-run organization in the country and there are like 14 clubs under it. You can learn a lot and meet and a lot of new and exciting people from the clubs. IIT Madras has all types of sports and there are cricket grounds where Ranji trophies are played, football, hockey, etc., and many more.
Hostel Facilities :
The hostel facilities are quite nice but the only downfall is there are no air-conditioned hostels. Also, the quality of the hostel you are alloted goes decreasing with the amount of time you stay in Insti. Mandakini is the new hostel and it's the best. In that hostel, it's 3 per room and there are two fans 3 tables, and a bunch of cupboards. The quality of the mess is also good except that there won't be nonveg. If you want non. Veg you have to pay extra for it. The prices in the food courts are also relatively less and the quality is also good
Admission :
I joined IIT Madras through JEE Advanced. To write JEE Advanced you must first qualify from JEE Mains. I got AIR 113 in JEE Adv 2022 and I applied for IIT Madras through Josaa counselling. To write JEE Mains you must first apply for it by paying the required fees through the NTA website. To obtain CSE in IIT Madras you must perform considerably well in JEE Advanced. The cutoffs for the general category will be around AIR 150.
