Remarks :
Silicon is too strict to its academics and discipline of students. Classes labs put so much strain on students he gets less time for doing something of his own. Yes, produces a lot of placed students in software companies, BPUT toppers (almost in every exam) but kills innovation in students.It still remains in that classic methodology of teaching where all efforts are put on syllabus only. It's not its fault the University has to design a syllabus which makes students work on their own idea and has to stop teaching father's times subjects and one branch core subjects to any other branch which are of no use now.
Entrance Preview :
OJEE Then you need to go through the normal counseling process. But u need really good rank for this college. Now as OJEE is no more does engineering entrance so you need to give JEEMains then counsel under OJEE
Course Curriculum Overview :
It follows new course structure of BPUT. It follows two internships and two projects with theory paper and labs. We will get research-oriented labs and theory. But it has less practical and real-time industry work exposure before. Hope the new introduced curriculum does well.
Internships Opportunities :
Yes, normally Sankalp Semiconductor Pvt Ltd, STL, BSNL Bhubaneswar, perfect VIP etc. Has tie-up with the college but you get no stipend but get good exposure to the industry. College also provides summer internship in different subjects by experts from different fields.Again you don't get a stipend but you will be provided accommodation which is on the charged basis.
Placement Experience :
Normally Infosys and Wipro take the maximum student in 1st a week of placement season.After that pool campus from Mindtree, Capgemini, Tech Mahindra etc come to college. You will get rich no of software campus here. But very less core campus. Still Surya international, perfect VIP, Veda IIT hit the core placement list Students are given placement assistance by experience and export faculty. Every year placement records are above 80%..you can refer www.silicon.ac.in for details.
College Events :
Every year you will have 1-Tech fest 2-cultural fest 3-ISTE student chapter 4-freshers 5-farewell 6-musical night These consist up number of cultural and technical events. These are not huge. No celebrities are invited. A cash prize is low. The Stage is small as a campus is small.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
The Fee structure is 100000-150000 excluding hostel, Canteen, and transport every year. You have to at once no equity pay option. But you can have more time to pay later by giving applications. Hostel fee is 35000 per annum and canteen bill is 2-3k every month.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
College provides a scholarship to poor meritorious students every year 1 student every year and toppers of every branch get a scholarship but no loan facility provided.
Campus Life :
Campus life is good you will enjoy its environment it's near Sikharchandi Hill near Chandaka reserved forests.You can hear the peacocks in the morning. Normally gender ratio is 4:3( f:m) its variable. Hostels organize different sports and cultural events between borders. Yes, you get exposure to high-level workshops on different topics which help you a lot. Workshops on technical to social subjects organized. Exports are called. Sports is also organized annually. Yes, many technical events are also open to the student. College also provides coaching for GATE, CAT Many students qualify GATE every, in fact, I have done also. Few years before EC AIR 3 was from this college. College also provides interbranch projects wherein a project team students from all branch can be there.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostels are good clean and hygienic. In Every room, 3-4 students stay.Rooms are spacious has locker facility, table, chair, bed for all. Light and fans are the only the electrocortical appliances no ac rooms. Basic medical facilities provided. Every month one doctor for male one for females visit the campus. Ambulance service is also available.Basic medicine also available with wardens. 24*7 electricity and water facility. Sometimes water problems occur especially at exam time. Faculties visit hostels every day. The mess has a varied menu. Different mess for veg n nonveg. You get 4days nonveg in a week. You have to pay mess bill at the end of the month.you will be changed on numbers of meals you eat. If you stay in the hostel but don't take mesh food still you are gonna charged a basic amount if you are not on leave. Food is normal at least better than other colleges.(realized after leaving college)
Alumni/Alumna :
Yes, there is huge alumni network as its old college and they are in many fields from business to research. For any need, you can contact them in silicon worldwide FB group. But you will never need its requirement. At least I never need. But seniors are really helpful.
Exam Structure :
You will get minimum 3 labs a week and have daily viva in labs. Finally, at end of semester, you will have grand viva and lab test. You will have 2internals every semester and 2 surprise test 2 class test and 1final exam. Every academic year you will have 2 sem.
Admission :
After JEE Mains results OJEE will notify in its site for registration for counseling. Then you need to select college and you will give a slot by ojee for documents variety. You will get notification from OJEE if you are shortlisted in counseling. Then you have to go to college on given time slot.
Faculty :
All professors have done Ph.D. Many assistant professors are doing Ph.D. Many faculties are doing research in the field of computer science, Electrical engineering, and VLSI in college. Lab attendant is the mixture of higher and average standard. Faculties are really helpful to students.
