Review: MBA IIT Kanpur

Remarks :

The basic eligibility of the course is the CAT percentile, and you need to have a graduate in either engineering or science. Further selection was done on the basis of SOP, academic records, and work experience if any. The application form was available on IME, IIT Kanpur's website and the application fee was Rs 1000. The last date of application was 31st January 2022. The only improvement in the admission process can be the inclusion of an interview in the screening process.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose this course as it is among the good colleges for management studies having an NIRF ranking of 16 in 2021, and IIT Kanpur in itself carries a big brand value. The ROI for MBA IIT Kanpur is among the best in the country. Placements are 100% with decent packages. The faculty-student ratio is 1:5 which is good. The faculty is highly qualified and the teaching method is also great with a very structured way of teaching. The term exams are conducted timely and are challenging.

Internships Opportunities :

The summer placements are 100% with offers made in diverse domains with analytics being the most sought domain. The average stipend offered was Rs 80000 and the highest stipend was Rs 200000. Overall it is decent.

Placement Experience :

From 3rd semester students can sit for final placements. More than 50 companies come to recruit from MBA IIT Kanpur. Analytics is the domain that has the most recruiters. The highest package for 2022 was 22 LPA and an average of 16.6 LPA. Diverse profiles are offered. There is 100% placement. I plan to do a job in a good company after graduating.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Fees are less compared to other B schools in the same tier making it a great choice considering the return on investment and is one of the prime reasons students take a course here, It is among the most affordable business schools in the country,

Campus Life :

It has a 1000-acre campus with lush greenery and great infrastructure. The tech fest for MBA-IIT Kanpur is Prabandhan. The library is big with all the required books and journals. Classrooms are great infrastructure-wise, having centralized AC, and smart class features as well. There are facilities for nearly all major sports on campus, and various clubs like E-Cell, Music club, Adventure club, etc.

Hostel Facilities :

Rooms are decent, but a little small if occupancy is for two. There is only a fan and so summers can be a tough time to be in rooms without coolers which one has to buy for self. Meals are good compared to other colleges with a diverse menu and there is the availability of canteen in the hostel which is open till 2 am. The registration process for hostels is also smooth.

Placement Experience:

From the 3rd semester of the course, students become eligible for final placements. ISAB is maintaining 100% final and summer internship placements since its inception and we are looking forward to maintaining the record. The placement cell is very active and supports students in their campus placement ventures.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose the course of agribusiness because like after BSc in agriculture you can go for MSc in agriculture or MBA in agribusiness. I don't want to prepare for Ph.D. in the government sector so there is a better scope of an MBA in the private sector rather than an MSc in agriculture. Another reason for doing MBA is placement. The placement ratio of MBA students is better than m.sc students and salaries are also good. Another reason is in the private sector and MBA degree holders will get better promotions than average MSc degree holders. On my campus, there are 46 students in MBA agribusiness and 7 to 80% of them will surely get a minimum package of 350000 and a maximum package of 8 lacs. The guest faculty of MBA agribusiness is quite good. There are some teachers who are not as good as others but there is a 100% guarantee of course completion. Semester exams are not quite easy or too difficult if you will focus a little bit on your studies you will easily get pass. Semester exams are delayed.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The trimester exam was there and it is pretty difficult to pass and have very good projects to work on plus the faculty is very good for finance. I am fortunate to be here. All the faculty is doctorate who are teaching plus have a very wide range of practical experience and links at big companies. The faculty is approachable. The college is very regular in respect of course and exam schedule. The course provides in-depth knowledge and exposure to students to real-life problems.

Placement Experience:

Students can apply for internships in any semester but for jobs, they are eligible by their end year only. Companies like Wipro, Paytm, Byjus, HSBC bank, Amazon visits the campus in the management department and almost 65 percent of the students get internship easily based on their skills. And for jobs, the highest package in management was 12 lakhs per annum and the average is 4 to 5 lakhs per annum.
