One of the best B-schools in the country for ROI

Remarks :

It would help if you had a Valid CAT score ( preferably above the 85 percentile to apply for MBA at IIT Kanpur. An excellent academic record of above 65% in 10th and 12th and a CGPA of about 6.5 and above from a recognized AICTE university/ IIT/IIM or IIIT. The application form is available on the MBA IIT Kanpur Portal. The admission process could have an interview system. Currently, the students are onboarded based on their academics and CAT score. An interview process would also take into account, the ability of the individual to communicate efficiently.

Course Curriculum Overview :

IIT Kanpur is very specific when it comes to choosing its candidates. The institute prefers Engineers and this guarantees that they've done courses related to mathematics and this helps when subjects like statistics are taught. The IIT ecosystem also provides various opportunities to learn and grow. The faculty ratio is 1:5. The faculties that teach at MBA IITK are mostly Ph.D. holders or graduates from reputed IITs and IIMs. Each faculty has a unique way of approaching the subject. Some of the subjects are completely case driven and hence make the student think and perform in a non-conventional manner. Each course has a mid-semester exam and ends semester exam. There are quizzes for subjects in between but that depends on the faculty. If you're regular with your academics, then it's not a difficult task to pass. There are group projects and Individual assignments as well that you have to submit in between.

Internships Opportunities :

The companies that came for the internship include Morgan Stanley, Juspay, Tiger Analytics, Digit Insurance, ICICI Bank, Planet spark, and various others for roles such as Supply chain trainee, Management intern, Product manager Intern, Marketing Intern, Credit Risk Intern, Data Scientist, and Investment Analyst.

Placement Experience :

The students are eligible for final placements from the third semester, and summer placements, from the first semester. Some of the companies who visited include Tiger Analytics, Accenture Strategy, Axtria, Barclays, Deloitte, Infosys, and ZS. On average, almost 30+ companies visit every year. The highest package for the 2020-22 batch stood at 22 LPA and the average package was 16.61 LPA. MBA IIT Kanpur had 100% placements last year. My plan after getting my degree is to work in the domain I love the most and that is marketing, I want to be a part of famous marketing campaigns, create great ones that people remember, and work for brands that are known for amazing marketing campaigns like Nike and Amul.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fee hike policy should not be implemented at MBA IITK. The key differentiator that separates IITK from any other B-school is its amazing ROI. This has always remained a USP and should continue to do so. As the other IITs have increased their fees, it becomes even more important for IITK to stick to its fee structure as it gives the institute an edge over the others and can affect an individual's decision when choosing the college.

Campus Life :

The annual management fest for MBA IITK is Prabandhan, It is conducted in October every year. It consists of case study competitions related to marketing, consulting, operations, HR, and analytics. The PK Kelkar Library is one of the most famous Libraries in India. It has a wide variety of resources both in digital and printed versions to support the information needs of students and faculties. It is a 3 storied building spread across almost 5000+ square meters. The classrooms are spacious and fully air-conditioned equipped with projectors for implementing educational as well as presentation requirements. IIT Kanpur houses teams for all sporting activities. The institute has an annual sports fest named Udghosh conducted in October. Colleges from all over India come to participate in this competition. IITK has a wide variety of clubs like dramatics, film club, photography club, etc. for extracurricular activities. All the committees and clubs are student-driven.

Hostel Facilities :

The rooms are spacious and the washrooms are common. The mess facility can be availed by hostellers and is charged every month. The prices are fixed for the prescribed menu, and any extras required are added to fixed expenses every month. The mess registration happens as soon as the room is allotted to the student. The mess facility is subsidized and extremely affordable as well. The mess has a student representative, the menu is changed generally every month.

From the 3rd semester of the course, students become eligible for final placements. ISAB is maintaining 100% final and summer internship placements since its inception and we are looking forward to maintaining the record. The placement cell is very active and supports students in their campus placement ventures.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose the course of agribusiness because like after BSc in agriculture you can go for MSc in agriculture or MBA in agribusiness. I don't want to prepare for Ph.D. in the government sector so there is a better scope of an MBA in the private sector rather than an MSc in agriculture. Another reason for doing MBA is placement. The placement ratio of MBA students is better than m.sc students and salaries are also good. Another reason is in the private sector and MBA degree holders will get better promotions than average MSc degree holders. On my campus, there are 46 students in MBA agribusiness and 7 to 80% of them will surely get a minimum package of 350000 and a maximum package of 8 lacs. The guest faculty of MBA agribusiness is quite good. There are some teachers who are not as good as others but there is a 100% guarantee of course completion. Semester exams are not quite easy or too difficult if you will focus a little bit on your studies you will easily get pass. Semester exams are delayed.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The trimester exam was there and it is pretty difficult to pass and have very good projects to work on plus the faculty is very good for finance. I am fortunate to be here. All the faculty is doctorate who are teaching plus have a very wide range of practical experience and links at big companies. The faculty is approachable. The college is very regular in respect of course and exam schedule. The course provides in-depth knowledge and exposure to students to real-life problems.

Students can apply for internships in any semester but for jobs, they are eligible by their end year only. Companies like Wipro, Paytm, Byjus, HSBC bank, Amazon visits the campus in the management department and almost 65 percent of the students get internship easily based on their skills. And for jobs, the highest package in management was 12 lakhs per annum and the average is 4 to 5 lakhs per annum.
