Why MBA IIT Kanpur?

Remarks :

Eligibility- 65% in 12th and 10th board, CAT percentile 85+. Candidates should have done Btech, BE/B Arch as mathematics as one of their subjects in 12th or Bachelor of Science, Master in Science, B.Sc., Engineering, aster of Arts in Economics as Math's one of their subjects in UG and aggregate 65%+ or GPA of 6.5+ from any recognizable university. The application form will be available after the CAT exam on the official website of IME IIT Kanpur: iitk.ac.in/ime/ Application Fees will be around 1200 Rs for General and the deadline will be the end of January. The entrance Exam considered is CAT only. During the admission process, college does not market themselves sufficiently and properly. Also, colleges should register themselves with the CAT as a non-dim institute to directly get the scores of the candidates. Support from the college during the admission process is not proper. The administration responds to issues and queries late, and most of this is handled by students, while it should be handled by the administration

Course Curriculum Overview :

I choose this course because of my interest in analytics. The curriculum here is aligned more toward analytics, marketing, finance, and operations, in sequence. So are the placements. From a techno-managerial perspective, this structure is perfect as students learn about business and technology also. The faculty in the IME department is quite good and experienced and reputed. Each faculty is expert in their domain and they offer elective courses specific to their domain. Students can choose their electives based on their interests. Most faculty follow a practical teaching method. Concepts, theories, and case studies are done. Projects are almost a part of every course along with presentations. Exams are conducted in two parts. Mid-Term and End-Term. Weightage is assigned to exams. Along with exams, quizzes, attendance, projects, and presentations also carry weight. Passing is not at all difficult, in fact, regular class participation only is sufficient for good marks.

Internships Opportunities :

Internship opportunities come with good roles in reputed companies as well as startups. You will learn a lot in an internship, especially in startups. There your role is not only one, but you will have an opportunity to work with and in multiple teams. You may work on big projects under experienced managers and mentors.

Placement Experience :

Placements start from 3rd semester of the program. Companies visited depend on the batch size and requirements of the batch. Placement details can be found in the report uploaded on the IME website. Usually, the plan of all students is to get placed have some corporate experience, understand the domain, and industry in depth and then look for better opportunities or go for a startup if they have a great idea.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

A fess hike is unlikely in coming years. So the fee will be the same for at least 3-4 years. There is no financial assistance except for SC, ST has no tuition fees. MBA first years have to do a compulsory internship in the summer term. Stipends for the 21-23 batches varied from 20k to 100k per month. Final Placements are provided by the placement committee for the MBA batch. At the pan IITK level, there are also common placements for all, where you have the opportunity to apply if the company has opened its position for MBA.

Campus Life :

The campus is great. There is everything to do, whatever your passion/hobby maybe there will be a club for it. Interested students can be a part of them. We have MBA fests as well as IITK-level fests. Antaragini is our cultural fest in October, Techkriti is our technical fest, and Udghosh is our sports fest. Prabandhan is our management fest. In terms of infrastructure IME has its building, with well-equipped classrooms, labs, canteens, etc. Prabandhan is the management fest of MBA IIT Kanpur. PK Kelkar library of IITK is one of the biggest libraries in India, equipped with modern amenities, eBooks, etc. We have two main sports complexes and two sports grounds with a professional environment for sports like football, hockey, cricket, badminton, tennis, table tennis, pool, swimming, weightlifting, athletics, etc. All clubs are for the students, and by the students. One major club is students.iitk.ac.in/gymkhana/

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel is compulsory. There are 13 boys' hostels on campus and 3 girls' hostels. Hostels are massive and equipped with mess blocks and open spaces. Meal quality varies from hostel to hostel but the overall quality is good. The menu is standard across all and keeps changing based on students' feedback and suggestions. Hostel registration is simple, you have some forms to fill out when you will reach the hostel.

From the 3rd semester of the course, students become eligible for final placements. ISAB is maintaining 100% final and summer internship placements since its inception and we are looking forward to maintaining the record. The placement cell is very active and supports students in their campus placement ventures.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose the course of agribusiness because like after BSc in agriculture you can go for MSc in agriculture or MBA in agribusiness. I don't want to prepare for Ph.D. in the government sector so there is a better scope of an MBA in the private sector rather than an MSc in agriculture. Another reason for doing MBA is placement. The placement ratio of MBA students is better than m.sc students and salaries are also good. Another reason is in the private sector and MBA degree holders will get better promotions than average MSc degree holders. On my campus, there are 46 students in MBA agribusiness and 7 to 80% of them will surely get a minimum package of 350000 and a maximum package of 8 lacs. The guest faculty of MBA agribusiness is quite good. There are some teachers who are not as good as others but there is a 100% guarantee of course completion. Semester exams are not quite easy or too difficult if you will focus a little bit on your studies you will easily get pass. Semester exams are delayed.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The trimester exam was there and it is pretty difficult to pass and have very good projects to work on plus the faculty is very good for finance. I am fortunate to be here. All the faculty is doctorate who are teaching plus have a very wide range of practical experience and links at big companies. The faculty is approachable. The college is very regular in respect of course and exam schedule. The course provides in-depth knowledge and exposure to students to real-life problems.

Students can apply for internships in any semester but for jobs, they are eligible by their end year only. Companies like Wipro, Paytm, Byjus, HSBC bank, Amazon visits the campus in the management department and almost 65 percent of the students get internship easily based on their skills. And for jobs, the highest package in management was 12 lakhs per annum and the average is 4 to 5 lakhs per annum.
