Remarks :

As per my experience they need to get more experienced and qualified faculty members and also vastly improve the infrastructure and also make the college policies more flexible and give high priority towards the performance of the students in the college.

Entrance Preview :

CSIR UGC NET , December 2016 appeared ,which unfortunately i didn't clear. As i had always a keen interest in biology i wanted to pursue a carrier in medical field but as coming from a middle class family couldn't afford the fees for studying MBBS nor was i able to get a scholarship , therefore i choose another alternative that was biotechnology.

Course Curriculum Overview :

my course in particular consisted of 5 years which was bsc and msc combined so i would directly graduate with a masters degree. we had different subjects as per year with varying amounts of syllabus covering various topics included in the biotechnology course as per advised by the government, it included both theory and practical for most of the subjects, with the final 5th year including a dissertation which was unfortunately only theoretical with no inclusion of practicals due to negligence by the in charged faculty.

Internships Opportunities :

Talking about internships ,yes our college does provide but only for courses like MBBS , BPT and nursing. They do receive stipend as 4000 rupees for MBBS ,1000 rupeesfor BPT monthly and as for nursing they do not receive in a monthly basis but get it all at the completion of the 6 month internship, total amount of 20,000 rupees.

Placement Experience :

Unfortunately when it comes to placement the college does not have any sort of such events. All the graduates are to find jobs on their own after graduating and the college does little to nothing providing any help. Also as per my time and experience there not a single company came to the campus for any sorts of placements. overall the job opportunities is very sparse.

College Events :

The biggest and most celebrated event was called AURA which took place every year during the Q4 period. It started with sports events which was organised every day during the evening time and various participants from different courses competed against each other. After this the cultural events took place in the auditorium that was held for 3 days which included dancing, singing, drama, acts etc followed by a DJ night on the final day.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

for most part the fee structure is feasible for courses like nursing, BPT, biotechnology, BMLT,etc but as for more professional courses like MBBS it is rather expensive. Also the fee structure is increased by around 5% every year which includes both for academic and hostel fees.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Scholarship facility is available which is provided by the government for which we need to appear an entrance exam and the candidates with the highest marks get to avail the scholarship for their desired course. under the scholarship the students only have to pay a certain amount from the total fee which is different for all the courses.

Campus Life :

when it came to gender ratio the boys were only slightly higher as compared to boys. In terms of diversity it was pretty diverse since our college was located in the northeastern area of India. When it came to extracurricular activities there was the gym for boys and girls and for sports activities facilities like basketball court , table tennis court , badminton court and volleyball court was available. When it came to tolerance there was no fighting or racism when it came to gender, race or religion, only occasional quarrel over social differences between local and non local students.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel facility includes either 3 persons per room or 2 or in few cases 1.The boys and girls hostel are separate but the mess and canteen are same for both. The hostel rooms are average and adequate for most part with a bed, table, chair and drawer provided for each student and theirs only one toilet and bathroom which is combined and located inside the room.

Alumni/Alumna :

When it came to senior students i myself had a very wonderful experience as they were very friendly and helpful and not at all dominating as some might think would be in college.

Exam Structure :

Our exam structure was divided into 3 parts for every year, which included first semester then pre university and finally the main one University exams. The internal marks was depended upon how students performed in the first semester and pre university which was added to the final marks from the University exams.

Admission :

I first heard about the on going admission from one of my friends and then went to the college and got the admission prospectus from the finance department , from the prospectus i read about all the courses available and the fee structure after which i decided to opt for biotechnology course and then went to the college with my dad and inquired about the admission procedure and with the admission committee in charged who helped me through the process hence getting me the admission in the institute.

Faculty :

unfortunately the faculty of the college was very poor and not at all as it had advertised to be. Over the years after joining the college i soon found out the lack of our own department as well a proper HOD which was just proprietary and name sake . Eventually after complaining about such negligence to the education government a department and HOD was provided which unfortunately was not up to mark at all. overall the infrastructure and faculty is poor and not satisfactory at all.

Placement Experience:

From the final year, a student becomes eligible for campus placements. Companies like Microsoft, Wipro, byju's and a lot more recruit students for placements. The highest salary package is 900000 per annum whereas the average salary is 600000 per annum. On an average 80-90% students get placements.

The only thing I regret about my university is that it doesn't have a campus of its own. Doing any program in university finds a lack of coordination in the department. University is currently in the rented building spread throughout Gangtok city.
