college review

Remarks :

overall remark is fair. college management was fine.

Course Curriculum Overview :

This course was of 3 years in graduation and six semesters. It was of 2 years in post graduation. Exam was objective type and negative marking for wrong answers. Exam was conducted in different centers. Classes were not full-time as was told. Practicals were conducted at IPH university in Mahipalpur for about 1 week.

Placement Experience :

They provide placement but I could not avail any. I was sick and I returned to my hometown.I don't know about it.

College Events :

Fresher party was given. I only attended once. Only music and drinks, nothing especial, poor experience. I don't know more. I attended college regularly in graduation but not in post graduation. My health was poor and doctor suggested me to take rest.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Fee structure was expensive according to quality of education provided. Flexible learning program was good. Daily commute to college by bus was very harrasing. Late fees were paid with fine and then books were provided late. Compartment exams were held with fees.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

They give scholarship. My parents paid for the course. I don't know exactly about scholarship. Those with 90% marks may get.

Campus Life :

Gender ratio was almost equal. Laboratory work was conducted in Institute of Public Health and Hygiene in Mahipalpur. I don't know about any Extracurricular activities conducted. Fresher party was given. Campus life was not so good. Tolerance was average.

Alumni/Alumna :

I had no experience on the alumni network. I just saw on website. I don't remember. Senior students were doing part-time work and did not attend college regularly.

Admission :

I got admission based on degree. My mother saw an ad in newspaper and recommended it based on its good reputation shown. It is a distance learning program through its branch web univ in south ex. This course showed good opportunity. I was not knowing about distance learning before.

Faculty :

Only two main lecturers were in graduation. one or two extra for maths and computer. In post graduation only one main lecturer. Students were less in number and did not attend class regularly. Teachers were about 25-30 years age and post graduate. Lectures were of average quality.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Since the most important aspect of our course is field Work, what can be better than experiencing field Works in the Himalayas. Himalayas are the best place to apply your theoritical knowledge to the field. Not only field living in Himalayas means every single second you are watching and learning something about Geology. Improvement can be done in increasing the numbers of field works, we go for 14days field training twice in the course.

Placement Experience:

The placements are provided to students and it's not like it's great but doable. Also now newly activated campus placement cell is going to provide students more opportunity. Also students of different department like MBA MCA the are also provided internship during the course also

Placement Experience:

From the final year, a student becomes eligible for campus placements. Companies like Microsoft, Wipro, byju's and a lot more recruit students for placements. The highest salary package is 900000 per annum whereas the average salary is 600000 per annum. On an average 80-90% students get placements.

Remarks:

The only thing I regret about my university is that it doesn't have a campus of its own. Doing any program in university finds a lack of coordination in the department. University is currently in the rented building spread throughout Gangtok city.
