Remarks :

S.P college is the leading science college in the state of J&K. The management and administration is pretty good too. For a student aspiring for a good future in science, this college is worth studying in.

Entrance Preview :

I took the Kashmir University P.G entrance test and qualified the test easily and was among the top 60 Students who appeared in the test. I choose this college because of the academic record it has. It has produced most eminent scholars of the sate and is the leading science college of the State.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is exceptionally well designed and the standards are intermediate. Talking about the faculty, the college has the most able faculty members, all masters of their subjects.

Internships Opportunities :

The internship experience was pretty good. A total of 10 companies visited the college including the multinational companies like IBM, HDFC, Wipro, etc. I completed my internship with HDFC for a period of 1. The general stipend offered by the companies is around 2.5 Lac p.a.

Placement Experience :

Placement is the only front where the college lags behind. Only a few companies visited the college, and about 3 of them placed the students of this college. Only 5 students were placed from this college. HDFC, JK Infotech and Wipro placed these students. HDFC offered 2 Lac per annum, JK Infotech offered 1.5 lac and Wipro around 1.75 lac per annum.

College Events :

On a large scale, the college only celebrates the Annual Day. Apart from the Annual Day function, the college celebrates teachers day, students day, International Mathematics Day, etc. Besides this the college has a dedicated debates and seminars committee that regularly organises inter college debates and state level seminars.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

As it is a Government College, the course fee is not so high. The students have to pay a mere sum of Rs 2, 500/- per year for non professional courses (like B.Sc Med, Non Med, etc) and about 5, 000/- per year for professional courses (Like B.Sc IT, etc).

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The College distributed a scholarship of 10, 000/-, 5, 000/- and 3, 000/ to the top three students of the college respectively. Besides this, financial aid of up to 7, 000/- per annum is available for the students belonging to the poor backgrounds.

Campus Life :

Campus life is pretty enjoyable. A total of 2000 students study in the college with 45% girl students, thus maintaining a good gender ratio. Out of the 2000 students 350 are from outside the state or country and the rest locals giving a good exposure to the students. Almost all the students are Muslims barring a few which include Cristians, and Hindus too.The college is pretty strict with regards to desciplice.

Hostel Facilities :

Hostel facilities are excellent with 24 hr supply of water and electricity. Heating systems for winter and ACs for summer are also available for convenience of the students in the hostel. The rooms are pretty spacious and well ventilated. All this is available at an affordable sum of Rs 24, 000/- for non AC rooms and 35, 000/- for AC Rooms per year including mess. The mess quality is very good as this price point. Balanced diet is served keeping in mind the quality and taste.

Alumni/Alumna :

Alumni of this college include notable and eminent personalities of the state. But unfortunately the alumni are rarely seen interacting with the students. However the seniors are always ready to help whenever there is a need.

Exam Structure :

The exams are held on a regular basis to test the ability of students. After every month or two, cycle tests are held.Labs are only time tabled for two days a week, hence it's not so hectic but pretty enjoyable.

Timing of the exams were not bad as we were having 3 hours for our major examination, in teaching methods I would say that teachers must pay really attention rather than there fashions and they must be polite with each and every student

Course Curriculum Overview:

My college people have taught me a lot of things, yes, only one problem I have in college is that the new semester of our college has not even been started for a week and our internal exam starts, and by the time the internal exams for exam t1 t2 t3 t4 were over, the external exam would have started. But the teachers on their part teach very well, they leave no stone unturned to teach us something new.

Remarks:

I choose this college for pursuing my B.Sc, because I had to study in my state only and there weren't any other college in Jammu which was providing the kind of education which University of Jammu was providing. The admission process is easy as candidates need to apply for admission and sit for JUET examination. Based on the performance of candidates, they are further called for counseling.

Placement Experience:

Students who complete their degrees at this college do not have good placement possibilities. The college should improve its student placement services. MBA, MSc, and MCA are some of the courses that the college should consider.Organizations continue to visit the university and encourage students to choose the best path for their future. Many students also go for higher studies as well
