Remarks :
Northeast India is one of the treasured parts of India and studying at IIT Guwahati still feels like a dream to me. I was very happy when I got admission here. Eligibility criteria state that you need to clear the CEED exam with an excellent score and appear for the interview. If you have a good score and good performance in the interview, your admission is final. The admission fee is Rs. 1500 which I submitted online.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Initially, I had a doubt regarding the resources present here for students due to its distinct location but I was wrong. The course is structured very well by the professors who teach here. They made sure that we were taught all the latest techniques and methodology. Very few guest speakers were invited to the campus. I learned some useful concepts as well during these years which helped me in my professional career.
Placement Experience :
Due to the distinct location of the campus, few companies visit the campus for placements. A number of opportunities are less but very good. If you want to land in a great company, I suggest you start preparing from the start of your course so that you have a good understanding of the subjects. In my batch, the highest CTC went to Rs.1.5 CPA. Various job roles were offered like Product Designer, Graphic Designer, UX, and UI.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The only scholarship available for the M.Des. students is the Merit scholarship and the ones being provided by the central and state government. Rs. 1.30 lakhs is the entire fee including tuition fee, exam fee, registration fee, and other charges. This amount can be a nominal one for some students and expensive for some. I didn't avail of any scholarship nor applied for any financial assistance from the bank.
Campus Life :
My experience at the campus was ok. I attended fewer festivals and events since I was already preoccupied with a lot of classwork and projects. The cultural board of the institute organized some of the best events on the campus and people from all over the city came to watch. The problem I faced initially on campus was of language a little bit, rest everything was ok. I participated in "Alcher"- the annual cultural festival every year.
