IIT Palakkad Review

Remarks :

I wanted to be part of IIT Madras but seats were filled for the CSE program and I decided to opt for IIT Palakkad as the college is mentored by IIT Madras and I was able to meet the cutoff criteria of the college and during my JOSAA counselling I opted for IIT Palakkad. IIT Palakkad was the college for me as mentored by IIT Madras and the college was under my budget. The best part was it is the new generation IIT.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The curriculum of the CSE program is good and is as per the IIT Madras curriculum so it was flexible and was properly synced with the real-world scenarios. The curriculum helps us to understand the importance of computer technology in today's world and the importance of coding and programming in computers. The faculty and student ratio was also good around 1:10. The faculty were of PhD level with good amount of experience and their teaching methods were superb.

Internships Opportunities :

The internship is mandatory and we can take part in the internship program after completing the three years of our program. If any one of us was busy in some research work activity and project work can skip the internship by giving the relevant documents to the placement committee but he/she has to submit the written assignments after the summer vacations. The average stipend for the internship program was around 65k.

Placement Experience :

Even in a short period of time, the college has made a good name for itself and the placement of the college are good. The college placement committee of the college plays a very important role as the placement committee is responsible for conducting the whole placement process and the committee was successful to invite companies like Microsoft, Google, Amazon, TCS, Arista, Oracle for the placement drive. The highest package for our batch was around 28 LPA and the average package was around 14.50 LPA.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The scholarship schemes in all IIT colleges are almost similar or identical. The college provides scholarship on a merit basis and scholarship for SC/ST/PWD is also available. To get more information about the college scholarship program and eligibility criteria one can visit the college official website.

Campus Life :

The college infrastructure is very well maintained and the seniors are very friendly and the campus strictly follows no ragging rules. The classrooms are properly ventilated. Petrichor is the college annual fest. The college library is the house of many books from all around the world and international bestsellers books are also available in the library. Students clubs like Robotics Club, Data Analysis Club, Drama Club, Dance Club, etc are also available in the college.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel rooms are available on a double and triple sharing basis. The rooms are properly cleaned and hostel infrastructure is well maintained. The decorum of the hostel is very well maintained by the warden and the hostel staff. The mess food quality is very good and the South Indian breakfast in the morning is superb. The hostel provides us with all kinds of basic and modern facilities as per our comfort.

Placement Experience:

The placements are more than decent as you get many opportunities to land a job before graduation. Provided you don't have backpapers which most companies wouldn't want in their candidates. Service-based companies such as TCS and Accenture take loads of students per year and pretty high-end companies visit too.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum mainly focuses on the technical side of the subject being an engineering course. Mathematical models play a significant role in developing and extrapolating the syllabus to application level. Life sciences are also there as core subjects and electives in higher semesters. It heavily encompasses the general relevant technical aspects of modern biotechnology too.
