Remarks :
I applied for Vellore, SRM, DTU, Manipal MAHE. I opted for SMIT because the quality of teaching is very high and the geographical advantage for me it had as well as to experience something very new and beautiful which was worth it. I have appeared for the Manipal Entrance Test Exam. I availed myself my admission as a general category student The counselling day was as usual based on ranks and preference of branches depending on the availability.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose Electronics and Communication Engineering. It has one of the broadest opportunities and learning experiences in the technology and engineering sector. My interests in Communications and devices also played a major role. Every 8 to 6 students are assigned with a Teacher Guardian in our department. The Qualifications of the faculties are very high and excellent. In our department, the teacher-student relationship has been a very enriching experience. They have taught practically, lab-based as well as necessity course curriculum. There were two sessional exams and semester final exams along with lab exams and quizzes and assignments. The exams were very good as one had to study in order to pass.
Internships Opportunities :
Companies like Microsoft, Dell, Wipro, Shell, Byjus all offered internships with Stipends with roles like software development trainee, data analyst trainee, business associate trainee. Projects containing working on Various Industrial projects and cloud solutions, API developments, UX UI design and development.
Placement Experience :
Students become eligible for campus placements from 6th Semester. There are many companies that visited in our year. Microsoft, Ericsson,Byjus, InfoSys, Shell, Wipro, Cognizant, Dell, TCS, Mu Sigma The highest package went as high as 14 PA with average packages at 4.5- 4 PA. The profiles included Software Developer, Graduate software engineer, Business development associate, Data Analysts. Approx percentage is more than 95% across all disciplines secured Internship offer. I am opting for Higher Studies after few years of experience in working different sectors
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
There is an enormous chance for financial assistance. The amount of scholarships students get is also very amazing. I have got a scholarship on my tuition fees based on my 12th Score. Apart from that anyone that needs financial assistance the college provides ample of oppurtunities. I got a 20% Tuition fee off for scoring above 85% in my 12th Exams. I have secured 2 Internships and 1 job in my seventh semester.
Campus Life :
The annual Fest of SMIT is called KAALRAV. Which is held generally in the even semesters that is Feb- March is the ideal time. The Central Library has one of the largest facilities on the campus. There are multiple storeys of reading rooms alongside huge collections of academic, journals, research books. There is also an E-library available with large collections of digital books. Classrooms are very comfortable with ample space, a big board, large podium, Projectors, Screens. There are many sports facilities. The largest sports building MARENA has world-class Indoor Badminton and Basketball stadiums. Alongside there are 2 tennis courts, a Swimming pool, Gym area, indoor sports like squash and pool table, Yoga chamber, volleyball court, large Cricket and football grounds and 4 Futsal and basketball turfs. The campus has every group and community for all different kinds of students and their Interests. Starting from Sports, movies, music, art, literature, origami, debate, robotics.
Hostel Facilities :
The hostel rooms are very welcoming. All rooms are double beds for two-person with an attached Washroom in every room. The room has a large window space. Two Individual Study desks with table light, two Wardrobes, large sink. There are 24 7 WIFI facilities and electrical power. The meal quality is very good and appreciative. The menu for breakfast, lunch, snacks, dinner keeps rotating and is diverse for each day of the week. Both Vegetarian and non-vegetarian options are available. The registration is done alongside the admission process. The ID will be registered for the new students and once it is done it is not to be worried about after the first day of receipt submission. The mess fees are along with the Hostel Fees which is around 70000 per year The locality outside the campus has PGs and Rented rooms. As the terrain is very hilly most students prefer to stay inside the campus rather than outside. All kinds of groceries and stationaries are available within the campus & outside
