IIT Delhi, M.Des - ID

Remarks :

After my Bachelor's in Design, I wanted to learn more through the M.Des course so that I can help myself secure a better way going ahead and what better choice that IIT Delhi to do my Master's. The institute has been among the best names in Indian education system and that is the reason it has the National Importance status also. I had some other good options too but I don't think anyone of them was even near to IIT Delhi's level. The M.Des admissions to this institute are based on the CEED score of applicants.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I've always been into designing and planning and that's why I decided to continue my higher education with M.Des in Industrial Design specialisation. The course is designed to help students learnabout designing industrial designs in a creative and effective manner which are capable their usability. We get to learn from highly skilled faculty of IIT Delhi with the use of Computers, Hand sketching etc activities. The 2-year M.Des programme makes students capable enough to get a successful career in fields like production, fashion, design, textile etc.

Internships Opportunities :

There were some really good job roles bagged during the internship round and luckily the offer I got was one of them. The opportunity was probably the best I could have experienced as it gave me the opportunity to learn, get leading skills and build a reputation for myself. I was way more satisfied with the exposure then what I expected.

Placement Experience :

One can know from the name IIT, that the flagship programme here is B.Tech and that's why the best job offers are also bagged by engineering students. In the field of technology, M.Tech is also there while courses like MBA, M.Des, M.Sc are also not behind them in placements. Our average package during 2020 drive was INR 16 Lacs which was pretty good. Recruiters such as Grofers, Tata group, Amazon, Microsoft, Hero group and Bajaj Finserv were present among the visitors for our batch of 2018-20.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fee structure of M.Des programme at IIT Delhi is INR 2.6 Lacs for General Category of students with the semester wise charges being INR 64,590. The fee structure for reserved categories(SC/ST) is quite lower as they are charged a total fee for the 2 year Master's programme in Design is INR 59,800 .

Campus Life :

Our campus is highly advanced when it comes to learning experience because our computer lab had high speed internet and well modernised systems to learn through. There were various events organised specifically for our M.Des programme which helped us to learn about the actual needs of the society and make accordingly changes in designing. The Industry talks, Quiz competitions and cultural activities at IIT Delhi were all highly productive for the skillset growth of students and also helped them to maintain a healthy mind throughout the programme.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel accommodation is one of the best facilities at IIT Delhi, However I was not a hostler because my house was quite near to the institute which made me prefer doing up-down. IIT-D have separated hostels for both genders and the hostels have sports, mess and accommodation services of very good quality. There are sharing type rooms and students opting for additional (special) services along with the basic needs have to pay some extra charges for them. The hostel premises have 24*7 internet, power and security support.

Admission :

Candidates interested to apply for the M. Des programme at IIT Delhi must hold a Bachelor's degree in B. Tech/ B. Des or B. Arch with atleast 60% of marks. The selections are then conducted as per the CEED( Common Entrance Examination for Design) score of candidates .

Course Curriculum Overview:

LL.B course often makes you know the aspects of the Indian Legal System. It makes you aware of the Legal Philosophy and Jurisprudence in India. It makes one an aware and responsible citizen. This has influenced me to choose this course. In DU Law Faculty CLC we are taught through the Case Study method which is a unique method adopted from the USA. Moreover, we have our exams usually in a 4-5 month gap after 4 months of semester classes.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is very good and it is updated recently so it is one of the best things in our college. They should add some coding events in our syllabus for more practical knowledge in that particular language so a student can grab it easily.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course structure is comprehensive as I am from a language course so for me it's quite hard to manage alongwith the optional course that is compulsory in graduation. The faculty is equipped with the language lab for the audio and visual experience to the students. The exams are conducted on the regular basis, 4 exams including first sessional second sessional mid term and end sem. The difficulty levels depend on the Professors mood.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I didn't know this course at the time of admission. My parents influenced me to choose this course and no matter how much pressure the Life Sciences students have to go through, this is a great course. With Zoology, Botany and Chemistry as its main domains, it offers a diversity of knowledge that may seem cumbersome over a short period, but actually, it is very beneficial for someone like me who is not interested in pursuing honours in a specific subject. Yes, the file work requires a lot of effort. The diagrams, the theory learning, attending all classes, assignments, reports, etc. It is challenging, so one must keep all these points in mind while opting for this course.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is good. It helps you to get basic to intermediate knowledge. Improvement is needed in books because books are very complex to understand. The question papers provided in the exam are mostly between medium to difficult level which is quite good. It clears your basics. For instance, Improvement is needed in exam checking giving low marks.

In the 4th year, we become eligible for placements. New startup companies come nowadays. The big companies no more come. The highest package offered by companies are around 4 LPA to 6 LPA. More girls will get placements. I will open a chemist shop after the degree.
