Jawaharlal Nehru University review

  • There are water related issues in some of the hostels.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course structure is comprehensive as I am from a language course so for me it's quite hard to manage alongwith the optional course that is compulsory in graduation. The faculty is equipped with the language lab for the audio and visual experience to the students. The exams are conducted on the regular basis, 4 exams including first sessional second sessional mid term and end sem. The difficulty levels depend on the Professors mood.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fees for first semester is around 108rs and for 2nd semester is 178rs. The fees is inclusive of library fees , sports fees, the caution fees, the I'd card , Library Card and health card. If you belong to marginal or financially backward section, MCM is provided to such students 2000/- month to the students living in Hostel 800/- month to the non residential students

Campus Life :

The JNU Campus gives you the overall political taste of India. There are more than 20 parties associated with different political parties dominayed by Left wing. There are no festivals or celebration from the Administration part, but the students organize different festivals or cultural program. The administration invites popular figure such Finance Minister or intellectual from foreign universities for seminars. There are many other programs by the centres such as German Week, a 7 day program in German Centre, in the same way every language have their own festivals or celebration. The students themselves takes part in sports , JNU have a beautiful stadium inside the campus. There are many social groups which organize pathshala in nearby basti. There are many group associated with charitable, plantation drive and many more humanitarian cause.

Hostel Facilities :

You pay just 2400 /- year ( may vary upto 4000 in different hostel ). There are gyms in every hostel. Every hostel have mess facility which cost from 2500 to 4000 month per month depend on the hostel and monthly menu. The mess provides very good and healthy food. The food is revised by a elected student from the hostel. The student representative decides the menu of every month. Overall you get best oit of what you pay.

Admission :

CUET UG is conducted every year for the admission in the language course in JNU. The admission procedure is very smooth. The token number is provided for huddle free admission. The staff who are assigned the duty of admission procedure are very cooperative.

Faculty :

The faculty is very supportive as I already mentioned, the professors are very enthusiastic. They go beyond the chapters to relate the scenario in the real world. They participate in defferent sensitization program to provide us with moral and society based manners.

Several reputed companies visit Delhi university such as Times Of India, NDTV, Wipro, TCS and many more. The highest package for English hons graduates can range from 8-10 lakh per annum. Generally, 60-80% of the students gets placed. After getting the degree some students prepare for competitive exams like UGC-NET, UPSC etc.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I want to do civil services preparation that's why I chose the BA program. This course gives me insight and knowledge about all those subjects which are needed further. My classes start at 9:40 a.m. and end at 2-3 p.m. Overall, there is no need for improvement in teaching. All the teachers are good and helpful.

Placement Experience:

Third-year students are eligible for campus placement opportunities. Some of the companies that came to our college are PlanetSpark, RSVI, IDFC First Bank, FNP, Zoconut, etc. The highest package offered for our course is around 10LPA and the average package is 4-5LPA for positions like a translator, editor, content manager/creator, etc. However, the placement percentage of our college/course isn't that high. The average percentage of placement in our college is approx. 40%. My plan after completing the degree is to have a job alongside my Masters.
