Remarks :
I didn't apply for any colleges except NIT Rourkela. The admission criteria for this program are very simple and easy. The admission to the program is made on the basis of career marks as decided by the institute. Any student attaining at least 50% marks or 5.5/10 CGPA is eligible to apply for the program. The candidates appearing for their qualifying degree final examination can also apply for the program. The admission process for this program is quite easy and simple as there is no qualifying entrance examination to crack for getting admission to the program. The admission process only constitutes the necessary academic qualification based on which students are shortlisted and called for a personal interview. This stage of the interview is the question around where a student is asked questions about his academic background and interest areas. If a student clears the interview he/she gets into the most prestigious institute NITR.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The entire course of M.A in Development Studies is designed as a 2-year course. This course is offered under the Department of humanities and social sciences as a full-time course. This course is spread across four semesters where each academic year has 2-semester examinations and mid-semester examinations consisting of 30 marks. The teachers and professors of the department are highly qualified and each one of them are highly dedicated to their role as teachers. They are really commendable for the way they teach. The teaching method of every teacher is different and once a student knows and adapts to the teaching style he/she is good to go. The teachers in the department are very friendly and each one of them is highly appreciated. The way they teach leaves very few doubts for students as everything is clear and learned in the class itself.
Internships Opportunities :
Students can undertake internships under institutions such as IIT Kharagpur, IIT Delhi, NIT's, etc. Here students get to work under projects under the supervision of concerned faculty members and departments. Students learn about various software tools used in research, how to review papers, write dissertations, etc. This in turn helps students for preparing their Master's dissertation project. The students can be part of fellowship programs offered by Gandhi Fellowship, Piramal Foundation, Teach for India Programme, NGOs such as Ashman foundation, etc.
Placement Experience :
B.tech Students from the 3rd year get pre-placement offers whereas 4th-year students also get selected for placements that they can join after completing their degree. Students who secure the eligibility criteria can sit for placements. There is an independent students training and placement cell to help students to secure a position in top companies. As per my degree course of two years, there are job opportunities that are fieldwork-based. Students can get placed in companies as research assistants, research associates, or junior fellows.

It has a huge collection of books, journals and everything which is required by a student. Any student in NIT can access tons of books through the library e-portal too. The portal currently provides access to all subscribed e-books, print books, etc.
Interview Experience :
The admission process to MA program is simple. You just need to get the requisite qualification and percentage of marks to be eligible for applying to this course. The interview questions are mostly from the previous academic background of a student, so it differs for every individual. Moreover, the questions for the interview basically tell me about yourself, why do you want to take admission into NIT etc. Questions are also asked about your general interest areas and what are your expectations from this course, where do you want to see yourself after two years of this course. Preparation for the interview cannot be similar for everyone. The basic knowledge about current happenings, your interest area, your subject in graduation is enough for the interview. Furthermore, confidence and presence of mind, the way to express the interviewers, communication skills are of utmost importance in clearing the interview.
