SOM Student Journey

Remarks :

It's affordable in terms of fees for any MBA Program. If you have work experience and aim to get a job other than marketing domain (Supply chain-Operations, Finance and HR jobs), this is not the right place you should be taking admission into. The college doesn't exist in the MBA's ranking criteria and is still trying to progress further. The admission starts from the month of February every year and students have to apply through the institute website (the notification will be live on the website by that time).

Course Curriculum Overview :

This coursework is only for students with B.E/B.Tech background only during the graduation. I chose Marketing and Information Technology management because of my interests are more tangent towards the IT technology. We have a Quarter system for examination process where the learning time actually is quiet less when the classes were physically in the college. But due to online classes, it doesn't affect much, because students get more personal time to learn and improve their skills through additional certification courses or learn any new tool relevant to their course or interests.

Placement Experience :

The placements for MBA Students are much more tangent towards the Marketing Side. We have loads of BDA/BDE/BDT roles coming with good packages.Apart from sales domain, we do have management trainee, product marketing and product development roles from 5.0 lpa to 6.5 lpa , we have BA role opportunities with a good pay starting from 7.5 to 12.31 lpa and there are few opportunities for supply-chain operations and finance. The average is 6.8-7.0 lpa of the MBA Dept. Candidates interested to progress through further research and for further studies like having plans for PhD soon after they complete their MBA, this place is great for them. But students who aspire to get job opportunities with regards to supply chain and operations, finance and HR roles, is quiet challenging.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fee is minimal compared to private MBA or PGDM colleges, and I didn't notice any scholarship opportunity over here from the past one year. There is no financial assistance over and I am not aware of any. The number of companies that come in campus jobs are good but most of the Jobs are relevant to marketing - BDA Roles, Few Product marketing roles and Business Analysts roles. The average salary being offered over here lies at 6.5 lpa The highest pay offered was 12.31 lpa mostly. Student should have strong command over vocabulary and communication, analytical skills, and technical understanding of the IT technology if they are preferring to work in any company which deals with IT domain.

Campus Life :

The overall campus life is great as the institute is a combination of Engineering and PG Courses where students from PAN India join here allowing us to be a part and engage with different type of people. The campus environment to explore and have the essence of a student life is amazing and we have no limitation to learning and enhance themselves to be a better person. There are several clubs for students to engage in.

Hostel Facilities :

School of Management - NIT Warangal

Exam Structure :

MAT - 2018 - 697

Admission :

First, the student have to apply through institute website, submitting all the required documents for admission process and making the necessary payments. The institute would shortlist based on your profile candidature and application. After shortlisting, there would a GD round proceeding with a personal interview round with the management of SOM for the shortlisted candidates (Currently the process is virtual due to pandemic). There is no written test any further for the admission process.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course content provides sufficient exposure to required knowledge in the field though it is advisable to seek additional resources outside the course for better understanding. Coursework is not too hard and can be managed by the student.

Placement Experience:

Here, students can try for internships in the 3rd year. Some students who want to pursue higher education like MTech or MBA or PhD don't go for placements and internships. The placement rounds happen in the 4th year where many companies come to the campus, exams and interviews are conducted to shortlist students. For example, in my branch of civil engineering, the placement percentage last year was 50%, with the average package being around 14 lacs. Many companies come to the campus and the highest package last year was 90 lacs which was for a quant role. There are mostly companies coming for SDE and AI/ML roles. The number of companies coming for Consulting or product management roles is quite declining over the years. My plan is to try for placement in some Tech company, and work for some years then pursue a MBA.

Placement Experience:

There are placements prvided by our college. They claim to give 98 percent placements but the process is a bit hard. So there are 2 exams of aptitude conducted by college before we can even get in. So after we pass both the exams we will be trained and sent for interviews.
