Entrance Preview :

I have appeared for GATE-2013, Got All India Rank of 369, Got a seat through counseling at the campus.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course work is quite good with improvements made in recent times. The course work is getting updated continuously with feedback from students and industry standards. Many of the courses are helpful for the industry as well. Course work is helpful for placements as well as the internship process.

Internships Opportunities :

Yes, there are many internship opportunities provided by the institute. The stipend depends on the company to which the students are going. The normal value is around 22,000.

Placement Experience :

The placements are also quite good at IIT Roorkee. For the graduates as well as postgraduates, there are so many opportunities as there are so many companies visiting the campus every year. The students get a healthy chance of getting placed from the campus.

College Events :

We have multiple events at IIT Roorkee. The technical fest being named Cognizance which consists of technical events like paper presentations, posters, debates. The cultural fest is named Thomso which includes various events like a fashion shows, bands, skits, dramas. There is also a traditional music session named Spic McKay.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

I haven't availed but there is a loan facility available for all the students who got admission in the campus. They don't need to pay anything. Everything will be taken care of which is very helpful for the middle/poor economy families.

Alumni/Alumna :

I got good support from my seniors. The alumni network is good at IITR. Currently, almost the previous 50-year batches are connected through a social network that is very active to share their talents.

Exam Structure :

The exam schedule is good. The exams were not very frequent. We had a couple of internal sessions and then the semester examination. The students have enough time to prepare and do well in the examinations. We have exams at regular intervals to test our preparation.

Admission :

I have applied for admission though online and then attended the counseling at the campus. Received the seat in the first round of counseling. After having the admission offer from multiple institutes, I have decided to join IIT Roorkee based on its reputation and history.

Faculty :

The faculty is quite good. They all are doctorates from either IITs or any reputed international universities. So we can understand their standard. They are not only focused on placements but also research work. Many of the students have multiple publications which help them for getting admissions in further studies.

I'ts a dream come true

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is well designed as per the course and strict to the field of study. The syllabus is mostly oriented to the practical part instead of the theory. Sometimes I feel teachers are in very pressure while teaching in the class. Timings of exams are okay every year we have two semesters like we have in our school time.

Placement Experience:

The placements are good. you can start by 3rd year. there are top companies who visit every year. highest packages - more than 1cr avg package- 10 lacs. 80-90 % of students can get easily any job. I want to go for a start-up and exploring in life.

IIRS Dehradun, A Synopsis

Remarks:

For the higher studies in Remote Sensing & GIS, IIRS (ISRO) is the best institute in India. The personal preference would be Masters over the Diploma course since the Masters programme includes a 14 month project towards the end of the course, in which the researcher gets to work under the guidance of experienced scientists from ISRO. A drawback of the course would be that the syllabus is demanding and the exams are tightly scheduled.

Glimpse of 125 year old Technical Institute of India

Remarks:

As my previous experience was in Bridge Engineering , so on the basis of that IIT ROORKEE is best among others ,as it offers a course named as Masters in Structural Engineering with diversification in Bridge Engineering , which makes to choose this Institute specifically over others.Admission took place though multiple doors :- First is through GATE Score without any GD or PI or both Second one is through Sponsored Category like of mine Third one is through Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) For more information on admission you may refer to IIT ROORKEE PG Admission latest Information Brochure.I think it is not a Bad aspect of institute , but Institute must do certain reforms in it?Ûªs admission process as till now IITR took admission directly on the basis of GATE SCORE for M.Tech / MURP courses which , but I will suggest that in future IIT ROORKEE must took admission for the same programme through GATE Score as well as GD or PI or Both , result of which it increase the opportunities of many relatively lower GATE scores candidates to took dream of doing their Masters from reputed IIT ROORKEE For Dates Tentatively application started from the month of April every year Last date to submit the application - last of April Results announced through COAP portal ( you need to separately register yourself on COAP portal to participate in the counselling process of all IIT?Ûªs) in multiple rounds along with some Additional round & spot round I don?Ûªt search or see any forum or websites or blog while selecting this college because in my previous company I made many visits to IIT ROORKEE by which I came to know many more about it automatically .

Admission:

I got admission into IITR as a Sponsored Candidate, so I didn?Ûªt took any entrance exam for that but inspite of that I qualified an interview to get admission into it

Remarks:

There are tons of extracurricular activities present here. From sports to arts, everything is here. There's nothing only for boys or girls, every event is equally arranged for active participation of all students. And I feel negativity about the study hrs which is almost 10 hrs.
