Remarks :
The admission was based on JEE-Mains marks. There was separate counseling and different cut-ff for state quota students. I was selected through the state quota. The opening rank for the CE branch during 2018 was around 18K in JEE-Mains. CSE and CE are basically the same in IIIT-BBSR.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose this course as I was interested in computers. The faculties have done Phds or M.tech from IITs or NITs. Most of the faculties are decent enough. But the curriculum is not upto the mark. The level of exams is fine and marking systems are relative.
Internships Opportunities :
IIIT-BBSR sometimes (very rare) offers its own internship programs under some faculties. Dell comes for internship and PPO in the 5th sem and selects based on performance in Hackathon. No other special programs are available for any other internships. Few companies might come for the same around 2-3 during July post 6th sem.
Placement Experience :
Post 6th semester the Placement starts around the beginning of AUGUST. The average package is around 6.5 lacs. The highest fluctuate a lot and can range from 16-20 lacs to 30 lacs. Around an avg, 30 companies visit regularly. 90%+ placement in general.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
There was not any substantial fee hike according to me. Certain state students can avail of the respective scholarships as per the state and college rules. The college toppers also get a yearly stipend.
Campus Life :
Advauta is the annual Cult-fest of IIT-BBSR. It's quite enjoyable and exciting. There are clubs for tech, dance, drama, writing sports and all of them are regularly active. The library is also big and there is also a separate reading room.
Hostel Facilities :
There are two hostels, the new and the old one. The new one is costly (+5K) and have single rooms. Old hostel has 3 and 2 students per room. Both are 8-storeyed buildings. The mess food is obviously a mess. The hostel is quite decent and good for the price
